If nothing else was happening in Epic for the next 5 years, then the permits for the two very large buildings in WWoHP:MoM and Dark Universe would not exist. But they do.

Lost Continent is getting razed to the ground and Mythos is closing next year, which is going to leave a massive nothing hole in the park. There's no way they would be doing that unless its replacement is on the way. As with a lot of theme park projects, it cost money to tear anything down, so they don't demo something this big until its replacement is ready to go.

These aren't some wild rumors with nothing to back them up, they're gonna' be quite busy with construction for a while. It's just like with WDW which has major projects going on right now in three parks.

Everyone is realizing that this is the cheapest that construction will be for the foreseeable future due to geopolitics and supply chains so they're trying to lock in as much as possible right now.

Does anyone know why Universal moves so slow when it comes to announcing things? This is the perfect time to build anticipation and buzz for this area, especially with the online talk about their Kids Resort.

Not announcing things until they're almost ready means you won't end up with cycles of disappointment when you end up cost cutting or value engineering. It's actually one of the few things that I will 100% bat for Universal on, they learned from Disney on that. It's just good PR and public image management to not overpromise and under-deliver, Disney is having to dig themselves out of that hole now.

Totally agree. I prefer the Universal route, which only announces the Churro Carts in advanced.

If they announce things early, people will postpone trips until said thing is open. They lose money.

Adding onto what others have said about why it's better Universal waits on announcing things rather than in advance, one of the main things on the general public's mind is "When does it open?". If it's not for a good couple years or so, they're not gonna' be discussing it. There's zero anticipation or buzz to build with them that far in advance.

It's also much harder to keep excitement up for longer amounts of time. Us theme park nerds already know what's going on. Short time frame from announcement to opening means it's easier and cheaper to get the GP excited for it.

Disney announces a lot of projects that never happen, like the theater behind Main Street, the big table thing at Epcot, the early years of Pop Century, and many before that.
