It's also important to remember that Breath of the Wild is in the top 25 best-selling video games of all time. This franchise is incredibly popular, but I think it's more of a generational thing. I get the skepticism, but this franchise is increasing in popularity rapidly. This could be a chance for Uni to get ahead of the curve.

Here’s a dumb question I’ve been thinking about since last night. Say the whole land eventually closes. Do you just keep the main pathway open to Hogsmeade while construction is happening on either side?

Maybe it's just luck, but Breath of the Wild is the 4th best selling Switch game. It has sold 29 million copies. The only games that are above it are Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, and Smash Bros. It's outsold every Pokemon game and every non-MK Mario game. That's no small feat.

This seems out of character for them to close a theater and leave it dormant for years with no intentions of a replacement

I don't think whatever it is will start work right away. But I don't think it will sit as long as Sindbad has now that both are dead.

Wouldn't be surprised if they need EU to start wrapping up to even have the manpower to replace a whole land.

With three major (all first class), and two minor, coasters in IOA now, I hope it's not another coaster. As others have said, IOA is in need of enclosed attractions/shows, especially with the Orlando weather.

Zelda is also a medieval fantasy IP, and could sell itself even without prior knowledge of the IP. Link is a Knight, Zelda is a Princess, Ganon is the villain, now fight. The land would probably be a generic fantasy village with Nintendo touches. It explains itself. As long as the ride is good people will come, the IP is just a bonus.

The Legend of Zelda series is one of the best selling game franchises ever (especially Breath of the Wild). I don’t understand why certain people keep calling it niche. The highly anticipated Breath of the Wild sequel comes out next month.

That’s a bit of an extreme example for comparison. Zelda is the third highest selling Nintendo related franchise only behind Mario and Pokémon. So “niche” is maybe not the right word here.

Yea. Breath of the Wild sold 30 million copies, which is an absurd number for a console exclusive.

Zelda isn't niche for a video game, it's Nintendo's fourth biggest IP (and second oldest). It's also iconic in video game history. The IP has exploded in popularity with Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, and with a movie or TV series inevitably on the way it's easy to imagine why they'd go with it.

And tbh, this is the same park that has Toon Lagoon. Zelda is more relevant that Popeye and Dudley Do Right, that's for sure.

Wow…I had literally never heard of it before being part of these discussions…and yet Mario Kart is one of my favorite games ever.

the only acceptable coaster would be an indoor one. But I agree too many right against each other. Indoor boat ride for the win.

Honestly IOA is fine capacity wise without PF, I mean, anything helps, but it's not a major attraction

I'm sure some Poseidon simp will claim it is a major e-ticket, but it isn't

Most people already use Lost Continent primarily as a pathway to Hogsmeade, so if they board up everything to the right of the main pathway, I don't think much changes in terms of guest behavior. The only problem is that area will be a chokepoint without places for people to disperse along the pathway.

There's also the issue of where they place extended queue for Hagrid's, assuming they still use Sinbad's as overflow queue during the summer.

Posters keep insisting they’re getting the parks ready for 2025. Fine. But making both existing parks weaker - which is what removals without replacements do - is an odd way to go about achieving that goal. At this point, I’d argue doing nothing after opening Veloci would’ve been a better precursor to EU then what they’ve done.

Now, if by 2024 or 2025 Uni gets a new parade, nighttime show, at least one big theater show, and some indication of construction on Poseiden, I will happily admit to being a gibbering alarmist who needed to keep the faith.

Finally, yes, Uni badly needs more family attractions. It’s the MAIN thing the park needs to build. But “family attraction” is NOT synonymous with cheap, underwhelming, simple, etc. Uni needs great family attractions, not reskinned playgrounds. It needs some top flight dark rides or an elaborate indoor boat ride.

Universal did announce "new entertainment offerings" after announcing both the closure of Superstar Parade & Cinematic Celebration... a nighttime parade/new show is enough to keep USF relevant for a few years until they flood the park with investment later this decade.

I feel Pokemon was originally set for Kid Zone, but after realizing they wanna wait until re-investment, they went with DreamWorks.

Now (if Legacy's comment on the Discord wasn't a joke), Pokemon might be set as the Simpsons replacement?

I think they realized that Pokemon is best reserved for Diagon-esque expansion where they can build a Tokyo cityscape to fit in with the other lands at USF, and then hide the actual Pokemon land.

Universal Orlando has existed for 32 years without an elaborate indoor boat ride, and only having one top flight family dark ride. Maybe they don't "need" what you want them to "need".

Just asking for one, not a dozen. Doesn't have to be a boat ride, but anything that doesn't throw you around in front of a screen or a coaster.

I have a feeling this is the case. I wasn't expecting Poseidon to shut down into a few years after Epic.

A relatively calm, Pirates-like boat ride is the one water ride IOA lacks. Adding one "completes" the park, in a manner of speaking.

Or it would if there were still shows at IOA.
