Agreed. Maybe they could move them to Port of Entry and work them in with the current loop?

I like that. Along with the Fountain, let Port of Entry absorb a few little Lost Continent elements. I think it could be pretty seamless.

Calamity Ganon is literally a big pig at the beginning and end of the game.

The Lost Woods, Great Deku Tree, Zora's Domain, Castle Hyrule, Death Mountain/Goron City. All locations that have been in basically every Zelda game are in Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom.

The nature of the franchise is also that it's cyclical. It could use that aesthetic base and be set 1000 years after those games after Hyrule is rebuilt.

Yes, why have two great fantasy properties in your parks when you can have one instead.

I’ve played through three Zelda games and played a significant portion of three more. Besides Hyrule Castle, those names mean nothing to me. And let’s take Hyrule Castle - what’s visually distinct about it? What is aesthetically consistent about it across the series?

You’re a fan of the franchise, and it’s a good franchise. That doesn’t mean it’s well suited for a theme park land. I’m a big fan of Casablanca, but I freely admit it wouldn’t make a great land at Universal.

Theme the land around Hyrule Castle town, complete with Hyrule Castle at the back. Vendors could sell merch (costumes, heart pieces, and masks), drinks (potions), and food (literally anything). Beedle could sell "treasure maps". Ganondorf would be the enemy of the ride, he's been in several games at this point. Powerup band challenges could be based off classic powerups such as bombs, arrows, and hook shots. Dodongos, Bokoblins, Chuchus, and Redeads could be the enemies of the minigames.

What are the iconic settings a Zelda land would depict? What is unique about the modern Zelda aesthetic? How would a land based on Breath of the Wild appeal to someone raised on the first three or four Zelda games (“Why isn’t Gannon a big pig in this ride”)?

Mario can support an even larger land then he has. Heck, that IP alone warranted the HP treatment, with DK and Luigi each getting full lands. Pokémon would be perfect for a land. Other then that, I’m dubious of the Nintendo properties each warranting a full land. Now, a combined Nintendo land, with Zelda, Metroid, and Splatoon sections? That’s more viable.

PS: A Zelda land becomes an even worse idea when we remember that LotR is credibly rumored to get an expansion land at EU - THAT’S a fantasy property that can support a land.

Literally one of the reasons Breath of the Wild was so popular was because of the world. It’s immersive and expansive. With an open world so huge, it still made each area unique. While not my favorite Zelda, it still plays homage to pretty much every game in the series with its locations. Exactly what Universal would do with a land.

Are we really now questioning why a theme park would build an iconic castle? On a forum about Orlando theme parks lol?

As for the aesthetic consistency, it's basically the same thing throughout the entire franchise. It just improved as graphics did to become more grandiose.

In what world is this something guests would be against seeing?

And thus ends one of the great theme park mysteries of all time - why did they nerf the “whoa” ending of the original version.

The water temple would be a fun one that you could easily make a boat ride out of

Though with the Zora it may be unfairly compared to Navi River Journey

So are we suggesting they build a bland obscure outpost no one has heard of for the sole purpose of thematic integrity?

Universal will make more money from Zelda merch than they would with Poseidon’s fury. That’s the why.

This is the theme park community. There’d be someone against them giving out $100 bills when you passed through the gate

I haven’t played any of the Zelda games beyond the first two for NES, and I don't hold out much hope that I'd see much I'd recognize (beyond the general appearance of Link, who's a pretty solid pop culture fixture at this point), but I'm all in favor of the property coming to IOA (if Lost Continent must go away).

I'd rather it come after about four or five other things in USF first, but still! Castles and quests are evergreen foundations for theme park lands.

Do any of the modern games still feature Link exploring spooky dungeons and getting attacked by an assortment of monsters and creepy crawlies? That could be a good template for a D-ticket dark ride to supplement a more grand E-ticket (boat ride?).

Once again, I'd like to point out the double standard...no one's outraged that Uni is closing its last original attraction for something IP.

I will very much miss PF, as it was criminally underrated by GP and fans alike. It actually beats Forbidden Journey in my IOA attraction rankings at this point (tied with Hagrid's).

Is anything actually planned for replacement? They love having the Sinbad area as a holding queue for Hagrid's.
