It won't, it has to be a chemical clean similar to what they did to Kumba at Busch Gardens Tampa. If you look up the before and after pics, I believe there are some in the Busch Gardens thread on here, you can see how the chemical clean basically brought back the old color without having to repaint.

But Universal will need to repaint because the color on the track is melting off. Not faded.

seeing the condition of this (parts of Sheikra as well) does not give me high hopes on what Seaworld Manta will look like in a few years being so close to the water. scary that top parks such as busch and universal will let them get into this poor state.

The thing is that it does not affect the ride at all. So as long as the ride is stable they can take their time to re-do it.

Chill, buddy. I promise, we all want to see this thing in all of its green glory, but we just got an update a couple of days ago. I'm sure that if there is anything to report, the lovely folks here on OU will let us know without request. :)

I don't think Hulk will be repainted any time soon. You can't just paint a tiny part of Hulk, then entire thing would need to be repainted, which could take months and Hulk would need to be closed. Plus I don't think Hulk needs to be repainted. The color has held up very well. Clearly it's the grime on top of the paint that's the problem. Now it looks like cleaning a part of Hulk's track is a good sign that Universal is aware of the problem and possibly plan to resolve it. I'm more inclined to believe they will clean the track that's been affected by the tunnel mist during the "off-season".

First, Hulk has been repainted at least twice since opening in 1999. Second, Hulk has NEVER been closed for an extended period since it opened and it has NEVER been closed for repainting. It has and will be repainted at night.

Thats what I was thinking to. Universal must be re-painting that thing at night after closing.

It's strange because I have been following this thread and a lot of people have sworn that this is NOT how they will paint the Hulk, despite the fact that it is how they have done it in the past. The Hulk has never gone down for any type of refurbishment, including repainting. As Teebin said, whenever Universal finally decides to paint the thing, they will more than likely do it without interrupting the ride's operation.

Hulk has never been repainted. It's only been cleaned. The only tracks that have been repainted at Universal are the Dragons and that was done during the day.

That's interesting, I didn't know that. But whatever they did, it made a huge difference, and at this point, I would settle for that.

all they did is test out cleaners on the side of the track at the mist.

This is not true at all. Next time any of you are at the park, look at the column numbers painted on at the base of each support column. You can see where they never painted over the numbers but around the numbers with fresh gray paint. The area that has been cleaned is half the brilliant green of a freshly painted track which I have seen with my own eyes. I saw the lifts, and the painting equipment sometime in late 2004 or early 2005.

Actually, I am referring to several years ago when the track was fully repainted/cleaned.

Well, I may be in the minority, but I think Hulk's actual paint looks good. I say just clean around the tunnel and the saved money can go towards turning PF's water vortex back on.
