Posting it here since it sorta relates to this (and not going to bother to hide the spoiler because one it’s in comics, and second it’s a stupid plot device that everyone knows won’t stick).

Okay so in the main comics universe, Kamala Khan got “killed off” (in a Spider-Man comic no less). Of course everyone knows she’ll come back, but there’s been some speculation that they’ll bring her back in a way that ties into this universe. As in comics will change Kamala’s powers into those more reflective of what was seen in her TV show and this upcoming flick. Maybe even make her a mutant. So any Kamala fans, what do you think of these rumors.

(Also is that trailer implying we’ll see something like Quantumania? If so I’m totally not interested.)

Lots of rumors flying that this movie is going to set up a Young Avengers movie (supposedly with Kate Bishop being in the movie) and that a Young Avengers movie is planned down the road, but plans are on hold with the WGA strike. Also rumored that another season of Hawkeye is in the works.

I know a good segment of the MCU fanbase wants this but honestly? Once you're doing Young Avengers, it's getting time to reboot. I like characters like Kate Bishop, America Chavez, Ironheart, Ms. Marvel, and Patriot, but at this point you've killed off or done away with A LOT of the top tier characters. I can't imagine Hemsoworth stays as Thor much longer. The YA are essentially allderivitive characters that remind us of characters that we. love like Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, Clint Barton, etc, but they're just lesser versions of those characters.

Idk. I guess we'll see. It's all in how they go about fleshing out the characters. If they make me care about that type of a group then it's different, but if i'm indifferent towards them as I currently am, then a movie with them sort of appeals to me less.

I have absolutely zero interest in an exclusively Young Avengers movie or show. I'm happy to see Kate Bishop turn up elsewhere (I think Steinfeld and Holland could be a great buddy team in a hypothetical Spider-Man installment, for example), but I can take or leave the rest of the "young" characters.

Honestly, of all the announced stuff coming, I'm really only truly excited for the Fantastic Four to finally appear. The other things I really want to see (SPIDEY 4, DOCTOR STRANGE 3, SHANG-CHI 2) seem like a long way off, if they happen at all.

Yeah, I think we might be looking into the next saga before we get Shang Chi 2, which is a shame. Spidey 4 i'm pretty certain will be a part of Multiverse Saga, probably after Kang Dynasty, but before Secret Wars?

I'm calling it now, another Antman type film. Too much CGI, no stakes that matter and just another generic villain. I hate that I sound like an MCU hater but another villain being like "you took everything from me"...yeah yeah yeah get in line we have a ton of those

Yeah, unfortunately until I see it and come out with a decent review than i'm not really feeling this so far. I think it will be better than Ant-Man 3, but it's going to make a lot closer to Ant-Man money than GotG3 money i'd guess. Sucks because I really think this cast is really good. I like the version of Captain Marvel Brie Larson gave us in Endgame (and subsequent cameos), i'm a big fan of Iman Velhani as Ms. Marvel, Teyonah Paris was really good in WandaVision, Samuel L Jackson, etc.

As i've been expecting, this movie is in for a rough time. Marketing for the film has been uninteresting, not helped by the strike as most people don't even know this movie is coming out (besides those who would be at every MCU opening weekend anyway). Added on is the sexism and/or racism all three women will face in one form or another and people choosing not to see the film to stick it to Captain Marvel and "prove" that Captain Marvel didn't really make $1B (which is something people seriously believe).

I'm also going to guess that at least as of now, it's going to come in on the lower end of those estimates because if it's 42% behind Eternals, that's a problem because Eternals only opened to $71.3M.

it's going to need excellent word of mouth (something eternals didn't have) to come even close to turning a profit and ... well, I'm unfortunately a bit skeptical.

Secret Invasion could've hyped it up, but that certainly didn't happen and the amount of reshoots done on this movie gives me pause about this movie as well.

Separately, it is occurring to me that this is the last MCU film project potentially until late July? I highly doubt there's a way Deadpool 3 can make it's May 3rd date at this point unless a deal is reached extremely soon, but even then, you then have to get the cast back together and the talent is going be tugged in many different directions, especially if they had multiple projects going on when the shutdown occurred. It's not as easy as "we have a deal, let's start filming".

It looks like filming is done on Cap 4 so aside from any reshoots, that film actually could just swap release dates with Deadpool 3 and then that would give DP3 the breathing room needed, but that's assuming the CEOs don't let this strike go into next year. No one ever expected the SAG strike to even be a thought come mid october when this thing started in July, yet here we are.

I loved Captain Marvel. Saw it twice in theaters, got the blu ray, loved it loved it. Saw Endgame 3x, watched Wandavision at midnight. Was solidly into the early stages of the MCU.

I feel like Marvel has completely lost me now. Not because of any choices or plot points, but just because of the massive content overload. I missed a few series & movies, and now I feel like I don't know anything and need to study up before seeing this. And I don't have time, so I probably won't end up seeing this in theaters. I might know enough to get by, but is that enough to make it enjoyable? And more enjoyable than other unique films coming out pre-Oscar season? For me, not so much anymore.

Marvel, I beg of you - more awesome isolated stories like werewolf by night. More things I can watch without having to be an encyclopedia. Heck, I even liked Eternals because I felt like it was an escape from everything I had to know before. Also totally fine if the direction Marvel is going in wasn't meant for people like me - but maybe that's why they're not seeing massive box office hauls anymore. Are casual fans like me too far behind to catch up? Or am I overthinking it?

Bob Iger and Feige are on board with you. The problem is it's going to take a few years to notice the changes. The changes being TV shows actually being run like TV shows and less TV content. It's been almost since Iger came back where the new position for Disney is "we're scaling back with Marvel" because Iger and Feige agreed the brand was being damaged.

It's so hard because what made the MCU really cool to me was the emotional payoff of all these interconnected stories. But now I just feel like it's all *too* connected to navigate. A tricky balance for sure

It's interesting you say it's too connected... I haven't felt like hardly anything post-endgame (aside from a few things here and there) are connected anymore. Most things just seem to sit on their own, with no connecting to a larger story.

If this movie makes money, I'd be surprised

The villain looks generic as hell just Rohan but a girl, like we've already had this villain give us something more interesting

I'm sure it will be a fun times at points but....It wont make as much as the first film and has two more leading hero;s.....so I think thats a sign of where the MCU is at.

I think THE MARVELS is running into a variety of problems (excluding social/cultural ones):

1. CAPTAIN MARVEL benefited in a major way from opening in between INFINITY WAR and ENDGAME, with people feeling like they needed to see this character's introduction because she was going to play a role in ENDGAME.
2. Two of the three stars of THE MARVELS were introduced on Disney+ shows that not everybody in the general audience watched.
3. Visually and tonally, it looks like more of the same. There's nothing distinct or unique about it, nor has the marketing sold a compelling hook for the story.
4. Other than Brie Larson (and Sam Jackson, but he's in the background this time), there is no star power in the cast.
5. General feeling of MCU/superhero burnout/oversaturation/disappointment with many recent projects.

I'd say a general feeling of exhaustion with most franchises and products of "nerd culture", especially this year.
