Dudley needs an extensive 6-7+ month refurb. New show scenes, animatronics, and working effects. It's so sad that it's such a fantastic water ride, but looks like a cheap travelling fair haunted house in the inside.

Gorgeous exterior, horrible interior (Except the queue).

You can tell TL is where the budget started to run thin with IoA and the properties in it changed so many times. The "AAs" are cheap and terrible looking on Dudley, and there's too few of them to make up for their awful appearance.

Dudley is a mediocre ride through and through. The only thing that was great about it was the drop and the exploding shack. Other than that it's a carnival level ride only a few steps above something I'd expect in Dinorama.

The budget seemed to run thin with Islands of Adventure when Doctor Doom opened as nothing but a carnival ride, Jurassic Park had only one major ride, and Sylvester McMonkey McBean lay unfinished for a decade.

Agreed on all points, though. The ride is lame.

Eh. Doom is fine. SMM was a product of stupid design choices.

Weeeeeell... Dudley the ride is quite consistent with Dudley the cartoon. The robots should be clunky and stilted an cheap looking, as the original tv show was stilted and cheap looking. Same goes for Bullwinkle. It was the discovery by the studios that kids would buy 5 frames per second animations. To create a ride with fluid animatronics would have been inconsistent. If you hate the toons that the island is based on, just say that... I hate them too.

That's a very lame excuse, not unlike the one that justified Dino-Rama. I would've been just fine with fluid animations regardless of the source material.

I don't need full AAs. But ones that at least look passable, not something I could probably build in my garage. I agree with Fallow. Saying "Well, it's supposed to look cheap" is a cop out.

No it isn't a lame excuse. It is consistent design. Have you even seen all the original 1960's Fractured Fairy Tales animations? They SUCKED. Do you also look forward to the beautifully fluid and photo realistic "South Park: the Ride" with characters that move like those in the "American Adventure"? C'MON!

Song of the South's main character was Uncle Remus, who appears nowhere in Splash Mountain. They don't have to follow the source material's $h!tty quality to a tee (unless it suits their budget/effort, of course). I for one would've loved a big grand Dudley Do Right adventure.

I'm actually gonna back Teebin up on this one guys. Yeah, the AAs may not be the best or most impressive, but they fit the ride, theming and style. Overall, I still think Dudley is a great ride that Universal, for whatever reason, has issues upkeeping.

Could Dudley use a few more AA's? Sure. But when everything is working, I think the ride is a lot of fun and does a great job sticking to the style of the cartoon. I don't have a problem with what is there as long as it is functioning.

Preschool: MK and Empress Lilly, wherever that was (DTD?)
2nd: Epcot
3rd: SeaWorld
4th: Medieval Times and Kennedy Space Center
5th: Universal Studios
6th:Splendid China (yeaaa)
7th: Complete mind-blank
8th: IOA
10th: Renaissance fair and Ringling Museum
12th: Grad Night at IOA, Prom at Disney's Contemporary Resort
College: IOA each year every year (UCF kind of rules)

Anyway, Yea Dudley needs to go. I haven't had a good ride on that thing since my previously mentioned 8th grade field trip (when it opened)

Are you seriously comparing Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls to the off-the-shelf spinner and wild mouse found in Dinorama? Dudleys is an E-ticket to end all E-tickets compared to that s---.

No, I said it was barely a few steps above that. It's a crap ride with a good drop.

I think everything looks fine on Dudley overall (when it all works) and the ride is great. I rode twice last night and all was the same as the OP listed.

Bingo. The queue actually sets up a pretty decent story if you're paying very (and I mean very) close attention, but none of it is followed through in the ride itself. There are no true animatronics on Dudley Do-Right, with the exception of maybe the talking heads in the queue. They're all very, very simple animated figures - akin to the Fantasyland dark rides - and not very well built ones, at that. The storyline is incoherent at best.

Even if you want to play that card when was the last time a hastily thrown together log ride at a carnival had those?

Incoherent storyline? How much more do you need to see in order to understand that you're entering a Dudley cartoon and Dudley has to rescue Nell from Snidely? Does everyone notice in line when Nell is kidnapped? No. Do you need to in order to understand what's going on? Nope.

It's parodying the Fantasyland land rides. That's the point. Hence the spoof of the train from Mr. Toad. Like Teebin said, it's done in the style of the cartoon. Which isn't so serious about itself.
