I could see some sort or ride maybe taking over Shrek. Expanding it to KidZone seems unwieldily and unfeasible. But what sort of attraction? .

I had a conversation with ReelJustice and Mr X earlier, and we agreed that an area like Curious George and maybe a few flat rides in the KidZone would be enough. I'm not saying they need to make the KidZone completely DM. But add another few smaller experiences back there with other properties would be smart IMO

Not a bad idea either. Whatever it takes to get some more DM

Yeah it would be cool for them to get rid of the Shrek Soundstage and everything. Since they are talking about moving away from the "ride the movies" /production. No need for more soundstages then. Develop a cool new DM attraction.

But yes for KidZone, that plot is huge right now. No need for it to fill the existing plot persay.

Yeah! Bulldoze the Shrek soundstage and you've got Super Silly Fun Land!

This would be cool for a DM expansion:

BMG area (the area right outside the park to left of Minion Mayhem)
M&G facility
Banana Food Truck (with unique banana products!!)
A few facades of the houses in Gru's neighborhood

Shrek soundstage space, possibly Lucy's space too (right across from Minion Mayhem)
A flat ride (maybe one like Mater's Junkyard Jamboree)
Small play zone (a couple of mini fountains like Toon Lagoon with Minion figures all around)
A kiddie coaster (since HTF said the entire KidZone including Nuthouse Coaster is being gutted)
Maybe a Minion fun house? lol that'd be a cool little walkthrough

I think the shrek soundstage could be saved for another project.
There is a large chuck of the old nickelodeon building that is laying dormant.
Maybe they could build Grus lab behind minion mayhem and theme the nick street to suit?.

If they're worried about capacity issues for DM they could always gut Shrek and build the same ride in there to cut down on wait times (and yes I know this is ludicrous and I'm not really serious.)

I don't see anything wrong with having DM in Kidzone even if the ride isn't there. It'll still get people to go there.

I thought to myself and pretty much felt like Despicable Me 2 was going to make bank at the Box Office. So this is why I was saying before I felt like there could be DM land in the Kid Zone. And just because it wouldn't be right by the ride didn't mean it couldn't be represented in that area also. Who knows? maybe they will build a Minion play area (for the Minions movie) in the Kid Zone and still replace Shrek with something else related to just the DM movies like the Super Silly Fun Land? Hmmm. Now personally I would like to see a brand new attraction replacing Shrek that's not DM and just Minions in the back but you never know. I'm still all in for a Horror/Monsters replacement for Shrek! haha

Why not? I'm pretty sure with this opening from the sequel there will be more DM or Minions in the park in the future.

People aren't going to bother to continue to explain it to you because you've consistently ignored the explanations we provide. Ditto with the DC stuff.

Yeah but your explanations doesn't make you or anybody else absolutely right. With how popular this franchise is something else related to this franchise will come to this park. That's my guess because I don't know for sure and I'm not going to act like I do.

I hope Universal doesn't go overboard with the Despicable Me stuff. Just because the movies are making money doesn't mean they need to spread minions across the park. If anything, they need to do something with MM before thinking about expanding that franchise in the park. I've never actually been on it because the waits have been crazy, it's capacity is a huge problem. When you walk in and the first attraction you see has a 100 minute wait, it makes you feel kind of uneasy about your day. But maybe it's just been bad timing when I go.

For a Despicable Me themed land, I'd like:

RETAIL
- Paradiso Mall (Despicable Me 2)
- Super Silly Stuff
- The Lab (Omnimover gift shop)

DINING
- Food Trucks in Super Silly Fun Land
- Mexican Restaurant in the Mall
- Cupcake Shop in the Mall

ENTERTAINMENT
- Playground inside the laboratory (think of Imageworks in the 80s) at the end of the omnimover
- Super Silly Fun Land Carnival Games
- Minion Meet and Greet

Attractions
- Omnimover through Gru's laboratory
- Super Silly Ferris Wheel
- Silly Fun Coaster

Though I doubt it'd work in USF due to the similarity to the Simpsons and KidZone.

No doubt there will be more DM attractions somewhere in Universal Studios Orlando. Why? Because the franchise will make lots of money for Universal. That's the bottom line in all businesses. It would be bad business not to take advantage of this immense popularity in guest interest & merchandise sales. Like the line from Cabaret, "Money makes the world go around".

I completely agree with this. By creating SSFL in this manner, you make the KidZone redundant. Then you can take that zone and repurpose it for practically anything.

Im sorry, but how would a 'Super Silly Funland' expansion capitalize on the success of DM? Its a generic amusement park. Do we really want a Ferris Wheel and spinner just because itll kind of relate to a scene in a movie that made a lot of money?

Yes, its kinda frustrating to watch a huge franchise get such a small attraction, but really what DM addition could they put in that wouldnt be redundant? MM already covers Gru's house, lab, minions, etc. What more is there? Yeah its kinda cruddy that the ride has low capacity and isnt the greatest thing ever, but it still is a good overview of what the franchise has to offer and theres nothing new to offer that wouldnt just devalue MM.

Not to mention Universal has a ton going on right now and by the time they did get a DM expansion underway, the franchise will have lost steam. Also, if youre going to use the argument that success equates to attraction longevity, dont talk about demolishing Shrek. It is one of the most successful animated series in history, especially if you adjust for inflation and consider merchandise.

I think Universal is content with DMs current presence in the park so we might as well be too.

Not sure where another DM attraction would fit in USF. Minion Mayhem is a great attraction and still new. Even if there's no room for expansion, they're still capitalizing on the success of DM with the Superstar Parade, character breakfast, nighttime show, meet and greet, etc.

300 million in 4 days worldwide wow!!! Someone mention expanding into the rest of the nick studios but I thought they were used for storage? I love the shrek franchise minus the abomination of the 4th but I would love to see despicable replace it, but Orlando to bring the mini land from Singapore to the kid zone. Nick/dreamworks needs to replace the kid zone to the kid zone and et gets a major upgrade as well as a despicable me land. And hopefully the creativity of the food will be on par with the simpsons.

Bingo! Couldn't have said it better myself. I liked DM, but don't want a Minion overload.
