Yet another perfect example of a Universal attraction where the queue is better than the attraction itself. -_-

I agree with you that this queue is amazing and is the second best queue on property.

i here so many people say it's short, which is obviously true. But the bigger issue is this isn't scary, it still would've been short but if it was really scary, the length would only be an issue when you say I wish it wouldn't had ended instead of going that's it. There's so little scares and the ones that are there are lazy and poorly done. Did anyone actually get scared by this.

The day version is supposed to be more atmospherically creepy than scary. HHN version will amp up the scares.

If you want to talk about intent, well then the current attraction focuses more on immersion and the "film set/movie studio" idea. If you think that's BS than obviously you're entitled to your opinion. Me, well... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Universal Studios Hollywood!; Why don't you make an attraction where our awesome USHForums members can actually be proud of you!?

But seriously, I hope the Secret Life Of Pets Ride makes up for this. Look at all of Universal's older former attractions... most of them are doing well. However, Universal has recently started to -well um- not pay a lot of attention to the rides themselves. Sometimes paying more attention (Obviously demonstrated with TWDA) to the Que itself!

Lets hope Universal realizes this and is planning on making another extremely unique ride (Not trying to give out names... but maybe SLOP) that'll for sure have everyone on these Forums saying; "Wow! I need to go back and ride that again...it's definitely worth the wait".

I mean, every time we hear Universal is going to make a new ride, we get extremely excited, and share our ideas on what to expect.  But when it opens, people are infuriated about several things:

1.) The attraction is way too SHORT.

2.) The story-line is messed up and difficult to follow.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you believe Universal isn't paying as much attention to their rides as they used to?

It's supposed to immerse you into the environments of the world, plus letting you come up close to some of the more iconic walkers (Bicycle Girl and the Police Walkers for example). If you want the more intense experience, go in during HHN's event hours. It should be a lot more intense, due to that I think someone stated here that they will have the ability to double the current amount of actors for those times. That way, the GP during daytime hours get to see these sets without being scared all that much (which, they give the warnings fairly well for this experience) so they have a good idea what they are in for.

And to also say, it's not like we aren't going to get more seasons. I bet that they will have the ability to allow new scenes to pop in easily so they can give homage to a best moment from a new season, allowing new scares in different ways. And while the story isn't good...its Universal. As much as I hate to say it; Universal has had terrible times making a great story (let alone good or making sense) and that it's more on what you experience in it.

Plus..Universal isn't exactly filled with tons of space for the USH park (and while I am appreciating the work that John has done; TWDA suffers from location placement). If they lessened the size of the Starbucks and the Studios Store only by a slight bit; then we may not have this issue that many people here are saying of it being too short.

Question on the length, a lot of people are saying it's "short', but short in terms of what.  Is it shorter than the typical HHN maze?  Or just shorter than was expected (maybe due to how long House of Horrors was).

When I say short; I'm mostly referring to the overall number of scenes the attraction has. It seriously doesn't have enough scenes. This could be arguable though.

I really wish they would have done that.    ...If only...if only....

It feels shorter because there's so little scenes.

Does our rsvp annual pass ticket get us Gate A priority or do we have to wait in the normal line?

Does any one here have a specific scene they would like to see put into the maze? And tell us why

I didn't mind the length of it. But it just wasn't scary..... though people were scared around me. Hope HHN brings more scares.

I think we need to remember who the audience is for this incarnation of the maze.  It isn't die hard haunt fans.  It's the general public, who are probably not the sorts to typically enter a standard haunt event.  It's the general theme park family and tourists with no little to no haunt experience.  I mean, I can't tell you how many people were bringing in very young children into the line.  Fortunately, most of them were scared off by the creepy queue, which means it's doing it's job.

But in any case, I'd guess 70-80% of the people visiting this during the day are people who would never do a regular haunt event.  And for them, yes, it is pretty scary.  I've been though it 5 times, and each time, there were people around me freaking out.  Was I?  Hardly.  But I'm clearly not the majority, I'm a haunt fanatic.  It wasn't entirely made for me.  It was in the sense of detail, which I feel is the nod to the haunt fanatic.

I know lots of people bash Murdy, but he had a pretty tough job here... make it scary enough, but not too scary so that families/tourists would have a negative experience.  That's a tough balance, and I think he generally did a good job in that department.  That said, I will join the bandwagon in that I wish it were longer.  But it is what it is.

I am curious to see how this will all be adapted to HHN.

I'll echo a lot of what has been posted above. Based on two walk throughs yesterday:

  • It's too short. My first time through, I thought maybe I rushed through it, since I was the first person in our batch of guests. So I made sure to take more time the second time through...nope, it still feels like it needs at least one more scene, and preferably two.
  • It's not scary...for haunt regulars. My feelings are exactly what edgeboy wrote above. I did see most guests around me react quite frightened at pretty much every walker. One guest did a whole dart around the room trying to avoid a walker dance routine. But yeah, I think they had to tone down the scare-factor since it's a year-round attraction. I may not like it, but I see that they're trying to strike a balance.
  • Yes, the queue is fantastic.

I'm still glad they built this, but it could be improved for sure.

I think one thing I feel that no one else is bringing up is this isn't any fun. When I went through house of horrors, I always had fun, no matter how many times I went through it. Of my 3 run-throughs yesterday, I would only classify one of them as fun, and that was only because the 2 groups in front of me were freaking out

I'm not sure if they turned up the lights during media day or if they decided to dim them to make things scarier, but the actual experience is a lot darker than it looks in many of the POV videos online. In the dark, the ending sequence is a lot more intense. Not necessarily scary, but definitely very creepy thanks to some good work from the costume/make-up team and the scareactors. It still does feels a bit anti-climatic, but I can see what they were going for: going from larger rooms to a caustrophobic ending where the walkers get very close to you (closer than normal since the fencing protects them).

It looked like there are a lot of hiding places that weren't being used so maybe those were being built with HHN in mind. I only counted 3 times that something jumped out at me or the people around me. One did startle me a little, but most seemed kind of telegraphed, although that might just be because I'm a haunt fan. I did hear someone behind me say they thought it would be a ride, but it sounded like they still had a good time. Lots of kids being dragged into line by their parents, but as someone else noted, the scary queue did its job and a lot of them didn't get past the queue.

Also, they might want to change things up during normal operation, so if you go through multiple times, the scares are in different places each time.

Most POV videos nowadays are filmed on low light, so they see more than the human eye can.

So I went to USH the other day and went on the maze.. It's pretty short, but maybe with it being short USH can spend more money on making it look good. Any ways, Theme Park Connect (http://www.themeparkconnect.com/media/universal-parks/ush/videos/amc-the-walking-dead/) has some really cool videos of the maze.

Forgot to mention this yesterday, but the employees at this attraction let you go through Front of the Line access if you're going through alone! One employee was a little hesitant at the time when the general line was outside, but they eventually were fine with it. Not sure if the House of Horrors did this too, but I think it's nice to be able to do this whenever there's no Single Rider access to an attraction.
