Lets put it this way...Im about 5'10, 165 lbs: not large or stocky at all. And 3 clicks locks to my legs and my body pretty tight, not uncomfortable but snug...I know cause I counted the clicks today out of curiosity when I pulled the restraint down. So no, I dont think they are just being overly cautious. I think they need to redesign the restraint so that it sticks out more from the car and is a bit shorter in length, and add some more clicks to the ratchet for tightening to smaller folks. Seems like it would be an easy redesign and the harnesses could be replaced on the vehicles by 3rd shift a few at a time.

Unfortunately stuff like this is not a quick an easy process...mind you it's not challenging to redesign, but also getting it approved, testing, etc is extremely time consuming....I do remember back in the day someone on here said (I think it was disneyhead but I can't swear to it) said that their source said that they'll be sticking in bigger seating in like December...who was it that said this?

also, like I said before...it seems to come down really to chest size...there was no posted height limit, and I could fit comfortably in the seat...when I lose enough weight I'll be able to fit :)

Screamscape reported that they heard it from one of their sources.

Well, I've been following this forum for quite some time. I'll be at IOA next Saturday, and it looks like I won't be riding FJ even if it is open. I'm a big guy with a 54 inch chest, and from everything I've read, it doesn't look like I'll make the seat requirments. I have been to IOA 2 other times when I was younger, and I was able to ride everything fine. Since then, I've put on about 50 pounds. Does anyone know based on my chest size if I would be able to ride Hulk and DC now?

Unfortunately December is a long way away, theyre going to have to turn a lot of folks away.
Nothing is a quick and easy process when it comes to any redesign, but I have seen theme parks really push this stuff through when its necessary. All it takes is taking one car offline for testing and modifications, and once they are happy with the redesign, put this one car into service with the others to see if its safe before replacing all the harnesses.
You know they have to have one or two benches behind the scenes - most attractions like this have a couple of extras to rotate out a for maintenance purposes without hurting daily capacity.

WTRiker, I'd love to see the omnioculars too! I'm re-reading the books before the park opens and I just finished the part about the Quidditch World Cup in GOF. So it would be cool to see a pic of them after I just read about it.

Here's an idea of FJ riders:
5'1" 200 lbs - got on:lol:
5'4" - 220 - got on:lol:
5'11" - 300 lbs - did not get on:doh:
Mind you we are all women with chests.... the one who is 5'11" was too tall..... if she raised up to fit her chest, her shoulders hit, if she squished down to fit her shoulders, her chest was too big.

I'm a big guy, I don't deny that. The testing TM actually pushed using force when I was trying to fit. There is no exact size that can ride. The cutoff for chest/stomach seems to be roughly 46-48 inches. The TM trying to get my seat to click a 3rd time said he no longer fit. He said 2-3 weeks ago he fit and rode it. Now he's a couple lbs bigger and he can't ride. It really is a matter of only 5-10 lbs for some. However if you are female and have a large chest it may not matter how much you lose.

Hay Nightmare, are you saying 46-48 inches on chest/stomach is cut off point, and were you just a little above that so thats why u dont fit. Not trying to get you to reveal urself just nervous :(
My family thinks im a freak for freaking out about not being able to ride the FJ as i have fit on every other ride before, but i have been looking foward to it for so long i would be just crushed if i cant ride. i have 47 stomach and 48 chest, so i will crash now as i am going end of june.

No prob. The pygmyPuffs in my opinion were one of the best values there, only 12 bucks. and well made. Both my daughters love them!
And they were literally flying off the shelves today.

I was surprised they were only $12-13. I expected at least $20. Hope when I go they have 'em!

I finally went today! Forbidden Journey was the most incredible ride I have ever been on. Everything was spot on, the encounters were amazing, scary, and thrilling. After you go past the greenhouse the queue goes really fast. Perfection!

Does anyone have a guess as to the possibility of getting in this Saturday? I know it'll be super crowded since it's a weekend, but I'm thinking about going if I can.

With as well as they were selling, my daughter said UO should be smart and manufacture all the different colors in the books, Im sure even if they keep them at that price sales would triple with people collecting the whole set.

If you go get there early, like 8:30-8:45. I was at FJ at 9:00 and the line was already 60 min, Im not sure but I think they closed the queue shortly after.

My advice: (this is what I told my daughter), plan on being at the gate of IOA before 8:30, youve got the best chance if you can get in the gate at opening
(they seemed to be opening the gates to GP between 845 and 850 all 3 mornings I went), and by 845 today the crowd was already back to the ticket booths.

But remember, while chances are very good they will continue softs, nothing is guaranteed, so be prepared that it might be a no-go.

At the same time if they are saying "no", be patient: Wed they kept saying "no entry" and after a lot of the crowd had left the area they decided to be nice and give us a 4 minute window for entry. So you never know without trying.
