That I could understand, too. But either way, they are still there. And they have money. A lot of it. I wonder if anything will ever come of those two empty spots now. It's more of a pipe dream I guess, but hey, I'm a girl. I have a right to dream.

I guess we can hope that they utilize this space in the Hollywood and Japan versions and that they make a third set walls, etc. for us.

I have thought about this too. I don't know the real story, but I would quicker think they ran out of estimated money way early in the design stages. On the other hand, the hacking away of JP so late in the game for more queue space leaves us to wonder if it was scheduling or last minute changes. Theming hundreds of feet of extra interior queue would have cost a fortune.

It doesn't have to be anything fancy at this point. Throw up some faux brick walls, a few sconces/lights, and voila! something 100x better than what is outside.

Hmmm, a vacant space within the flagship castle of the park and they will eventually need gimmicks to bring people back?

Make it the Hogwarts Castle Suite!

Way back in the construction stage (seems a lifetime ago now, which is odd, I think it's even after the AdvClub closed), I remember hearing rumors of a Kim Possible-like game involving the wands. The plan was to sell the wands that can change the channel on your TV and whatnot*, instead of simple pieces of plastic, and they would've activated various special effects thoughout the land.

Wouldn't shock me if these spaces were intended for that initially, but the whole idea was dropped (1) for lack of money, (2) crowd control, and/or (3) because the super-wands weren't commercially feasible. Pure speculation, tho.

* [AFAIK you can still buy these in the geek equivalent of the Sharper Image catalogue...I forget the name, has a monkey for a mascot.]

Nah, you don't really need all that. Simply, an air conditioner and walls would suffice.

I'd love to see an interactive game that your wand activates something, and i'm sure with all the money Universal's made from Potter i'm sure it wouldn't be hard for them to do this.

theres an interacitve adventure attraction called Magiquest that utilizes the technology. http://magiquest.com/layeredFX1.html when they were first built WW 1.0, I said awhile ago that i wished they utilized the feature. THe Magiquest in Myrtle Beach has at least a dozen items and events located all around Broadway at the Beach that you can use your magiquest wand to interact with. the look on people's faces when I'll randomly walk up to a clock the point my wand and make it go crazy was priceless.

See Tennessee has a magiquest in Pigeon Forge and i've never done it but I heard it's really fun. So I hope they'll utilize that into the whole resort for Universal Studios.

I've heard that although that was supposedly the original plan with the wands, the idea was scrapped because J.K. Rowling wanted to keep guests as "Muggles", instead of inviting them all to be witches and wizards. Not sure how true it is, as I would think the Ollivander's show would kind of defeat that idea... but it does make sense.

its freakin awesome. with Universal's history of awesomeness, can you imagine the effects they can pull not only in the WWoHP but all over the resort? wand sales would skyrocket because everyone would want to flicker lights with a wand.

MagiQuest was originally planned to be part of WWoHP but it never ended up working out for one reason or another. Maybe next time.

I believe MagiQuest went the way of the Dodo way early on in the game. First, it already exists and is branded. Second, it is just tech gimmickry. Tacky stuff like this and witch hats as table umbrellas were cancelled the second they were seen by either WB or JKR or both.

There were many many other goofy ideas presented that I doubt most of you know about and they were dead on arrival. Please keep discussing it all you wish, but MagiQuest didn't happen, it won't happen... ever.

I find rooms 108 & 107 much more fascinating.

I might be off in perspective, but is there any chance that there might be enough room in 108 for the great hall? I mean, it is the only popular room left out of the Hogwarts tour.

From what I can see, 108 was down in the dungeon area where you first enter the queue. It wouldn't really make sense to have the Great Hall down there, however, the potions classroom would fit perfectly.
