Its not a level I want to be on  I am much more careful now a days within the gates as opposed to some of my earlier photo updates within this site.

Yeah, there were a few instances that I was a nervous wreck three years ago. Thus spawned Draco.

Things were definitely "hotter" to the touch back then. Draco was brilliant

Given not only that they put entertainment out there to distract you and stop you from taking photos, that Guest Services has said they're allowed to stop you from taking pictures, and that I've been asked (very nicely) by a USF Supervisor I'm going to go ahead and say that they are aware.

They're doing their job and what they are told to do. Stop trying to make their job so difficult just because you don't like what they have to say.

It seems the majority of OU recognizes that they're just trying to do their job and that its not a big deal to delete the photos and take new ones.

My issue with this is that team members are being rude. You can do your job without being rude.

Here's some perspective. Guests will literally yell at me and have a hissy fit if they want a straw in their cold Butterbeers (which, as we all know, is a big no-no). Therefore, think of all the people that security has to deal with on a daily basis (their job basically exists to tell people "no" in different ways). Working at the parks is tough, especially because of strict regulations. If they're telling you "don't take a picture of this", then don't take a picture. Comply. Have a nice conversation with them, maybe. Return the service you expect.

OK, so there are some people who just comply with everything no matter what they are being asked to do/not to do, & that's fine, every one is different. So to anyone who is asked to stop taking pictures or to delete the pictures & you dont want to put up a fight, at the very least you could nicely ask what policy/rule you are breaking & ask why your being told to stop, there's nothing wrong with that. I really want to know why they are telling people to stop. & next time I go, I will make sure security DOES see me take pictures just so I can see what they say or if they will say anything (using my video camera of course so the pictures that I already took that I want to keep, they wont know about.)

So once again, if they say stop, after you make it clear that you'll cooperate, just politelly ask "why?"

Exactly. I don't mind explaining why cold Butterbeer will overflow if you put a straw in it. I do mind if you whine/get upset about it.

Trying to get security's attention is prob not a good idea too. If it does happen you can try and get as much information as you can, but it would be important to be polite as well as forgettable :look:

One thought I had about if they ask for photos to be deleted... okay beep, beep, beep, deleted (wink, wink) :pound:

Which brings up a funny story. I had an official app on my phone where you could earn coupons for a certain fast food chain. So trying to redeem a coupon I made the order just fine, and was very clear about the coupon I was trying to use. So I activated the coupon (which started a timer for it to auto delete), and tried to complete the order. Now all of a sudden she acted like what I was trying to do was ridiculous, even though I was clear that I had a coupon on my mobile phone and it seemed just fine while I was ordering. Then she called over a manager and he was clueless too. So I had to explain to him that it is their official app and there is a timer that is running out where the coupon would still be valid. Well he reluctantly accepted the coupon, finishing off that I had to delete the coupon in front of him. It was so funny because I already explained to both of them several times that it is their official app, I activated the coupon, and there is a limited amount of time where we can use it

It is private property and while some scratch their heads at rules like this and yes it's sadly a rule we still have to follow it. The official policy is "pics of unannounced construction projects are not to be taken". The security manager I talked with yesterday explained that it has to dp with trademarks and agreed it's beyond crazy. However these security guards are being paid to do their jobs and they are watched much closer than we are. Let's build OU as a site with a reputation at the parks where we follow the rules..maybe UNI would be a bit more forthcoming with some media credentials for us. And regarding what happened when Bob and Co. were followed my recommendation is file a "letter of concern" with a security manager and let them know what happenes.

Let me say that whenever we are at the parks getting updates for you guys, we never break park rules. We do not allow pictures that are taken from non-public areas to be posted. If they are, the staff will delete the picture and the user who posted it will receive disciplinary action. If security requests that we delete some pictures, we'll comply. There's no need to be snappy or rude with them. As Bob said: "choose your battles wisely".

OK, if its "official policy", how come

A. Its not on there current list of published policy & restrictions page.
B. Guest Services told me there is no policy that exists saying you cant take certain pictures??

& the trademark excuse makes no sense at all & sounds like a cop out from whoever said that.. So I guess since Harry Potteris "trademarked", were not allowed to take pictures of Hogwarts castle?

& how do you "trademark" a construction site, is that even possible???

So now whats REALLY bothering me is all of this conflicting information. If they dont want us to take certain pictures, they need to update there site, & put up signs all over the lagoon saying "Photography of Construction Prohibited", & tell guest services as well. That way, it would be undeniable & security would than have every right to stop someone for taking pictures. So guest services & there own website saying 1 thing & there own security saying another is just all round bad service & business & they need to make up there minds, as if Im truly breaking a rule, Id like to know so that I dont put up a fight & be dead wrong.

& even if they in the end decide to stop messing around & make it OFFICIAL that you cant take pictures, it would still be pointless & a waist of time, especially since that even aside from us, there are perhaps hundreds, maybe even thousands a day that walk through there with video cameras & are taking pictures & see them pop up on the internet or Youtube, so its not like there protecting anything that isnt already out by now.
