I've chosen to spoiler-tag this post in the event that some of you wish to leave the complete Forbidden Journey experience a surprise.

I have no insider knowledge on that and I'm nearly positive it isn't true. There's no way they would take out an entire chunk of the ride, especially when it's essentially considered the climax. I think the main concern regarding the Dementors was that there's a certain effect that was introduced at the beginning of FJ's lifespan in Florida, but it is no longer functional. Basically, once you're thrown into the depths of the Chamber of Secrets, a horde of Dementors begins to attack you. Right before you're saved by Harry, a Dementor attempts to suck out the souls of those sitting in the ride vehicle. There was originally an effect where a cloud of fog was situated just in front of you, and your face was projected onto the cloud to simulate you getting your soul sucked out (not unlike the projections of Black Beard and Davy Jones on PotC in DLR). For one reason or another, the effect stopped being used after a relatively short period of time. As of now, there are simply skull-like forms projected onto the fog.
For those who do not wish to read it, I am sure that Dementors will not be omitted from the attraction.

The Dementor scene isn't going to be cut. NO WAY in hades are they are getting rid if the best scene in the whole ride. I am still curious if that rumor still holds about us getting the extended edition if FJ.

Did Universal Japan get the Dementor scene?

Look at what USJ got, and that's what we're getting. Improvements beyond that might be better projections and better physical props, etc. Beyond that, it shouldn't be different.

The projections in Japan are a lot brighter than in Florida, so I hope we see even more improvements.

Yes.

There's really no reason for them to eliminate the scene for our version of the ride, and I'm not quite sure how that rumor even started, to be honest. Getting rid of it would affect the following scenes which would also require that they re-film certain bits, which I'm sure Daniel Radcliffe will not be partaking in.

This is a great view of the entrance to Forbidden Journey, as well as the supports for Flight of the Hippogriff.

We're getting Flight of the Hippogriff?!?!?! ;)

From what I've seen of the ride, I don't even know what improvements I'd make! It's so perfect. Only thing I would add or change would be higher resolution (depending on what they originally filmed the actors in, I think it's already in 4K), brighter projectors (even more so than in Japan), and more movement in some of the physical props/scenery, which has been rumored by HTF.

I'd stick with improved props and scenery, and pass on the brighter projections. If the screens are too bright, it doesn't blend well with the physical aspects of the ride, and therefore ruins the flow of everything.

There are definitely static elements in the attraction that would look much better if they moved (won't mention specific ones for spoiler purposes), so I think that'd be my first wish.

I can't wait for this to open! The suspense is killing me just talking about it!

I agree with William that brighter isn't always better. There has to be a balance so that physical props look right. I've never seen the one in Florida, but I'd imagine the dementor scene being very dark. Making it brighter would make it look like your watching the ride on an LCD screen.

I'm just eager to see what they can improve on here. I always have to tempt myself not to watch Youtube videos. Spoiling it would ruin it for me as a fan.

When Forbidden Journey opens, I'm not going to ride because I don't want to get spoiled.

I guess you're right. I guess at a minimum it should be as it is in Japan, which is brighter than in Florida. Only reason I mentioned it was because I've heard a lot of complaints that it's too dark. Japan's looks like a nice level.

And I know exactly what you're talking about. There's quite a few props that could and should be more animated, which is one of the rumored thing HTF mentioned. But if we get an identical clone to Japan, I won't complain either ;) It would just be great to see the ride improved further in its 3rd iteration.

William, on your recent trip to Orlando, did the newly installed wind blades and effects create a noticeable and better difference during the ride? I would hope that the wind effects would be significant. 1. Simulate flight outside 2. Help with motion sickness.

I actually had my last trip just before the wind blades were installed. From what I've heard, it does relieve motion sickness, but they turn on right when you sit down on the bench. Would've been nice to synchronize it with the the "launch" at the beginning.

Lots of scaffolding coming down from the rear of Three Broomsticks.  These picture do not do it justice.  It looks SO good in person.

Note the wall pushed way out to address the unfinished pavement.

They will probably take down the walls there in a few weeks and add lots off trees around it. It is so amazing to see scaffolding already coming down, just around a year ago it was just a dirt lot. :)

Looks fantastic. I have to give the team props for finishing the outskirts of the village early, because it'll look great when guests are visiting for the Studio Tour and Springfield this year.
