So I just wanna kind of pick everyone’s brains on this because it feels like an eventuality that’ll need to be addressed. The MoM ride at Epic really got me thinking even more about it of late in light of the recent suggestions that the TV series that WB is creating is going to maintain a lot of the visual iconography of the films.
In ten years down the line, when the series is over (or at least in its home stretch) and if it’s popular (which I’m sure it will be despite the naysayers), would we expect all the Wizarding World lands to be scrubbed of their film connections and updated with elements of the TV series, IE new ride footage with the new cast and little things like replacing Oldman and Branagh in Sirius’ poster or Lockhart’s book(s)?
WB is really banking on this series to be their overall reset of the Wizarding World as a franchise, so this new version of it could theoretically go on and expand for decades, and I can only imagine that, at a point, if it really takes the world by storm, they’re gonna start eyeballing pushing the new kids/faces of the franchise into the theme park spotlight.
Obviously the versions of what we’ve got are here to stay for a long while, which I’m happy with, but it’s just curious to think about in terms of the big picture and whether or not Warner Bros. would want to keep relying on the nostalgia of the franchise when the OG Orlando version hits its 25-year mark or go full steam ahead on committing to their new era of the franchise. It’s one thing for, say, Disney to push characters like Rey and Mando in the parks and leave the old guard (mostly) behind because Star Wars goes on and on, but it’s a whole other beast to see a franchise like this that lasted so long be getting a complete reset, especially so “soon,” and I’d love to be privy to what executives are thinking for the long run.
really depends how well liked the show is, the movies are universally acclaimed and beloved,
it was perfectly cast, perfectly edited, it has the perfect music,
the show will definitely be popular for sure, but TV shows aren't always as grand as movies are, and you have this huge giant nostalgia for the movies that the show doesn't really have,
plus people today are more cynical, the movies captured a more innocent audience.
it depends, the fantastic beasts movies weren't really that well received, not like the original movies, and this point is correct:
Thank God Universal isn’t Disney because this is exactly what Disney would have done.
I think they will keep it the same. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Also going back to the Star Wars argument: basing the land on the sequel trilogy was a massive mistake IMO. Imagine how much better Rise would be if they had the OT characters and Falcon if it had Han Solo.
I understand where you’re coming from but agree to disagree lol. I do truly think Rise would be 10x better if you put in the OT characters.
Poe should’ve been swapped for Luke. Back for Ackbar. Kylo for Vader. His for Tarken. Flynn for Solo. Rey for Leia. It WOULD be much better.
regardless of whether or not you like the new Disney characters, in some ways these new star wars characters aren't as epic as the originals, don't have as much nostalgia and these Disney movies have had some problems.
I know that these newer movies have a lot of fans, but as far as popular culture goes the characters aren't as epic or even as recognizable as the originals ( not the fault of the actors) I never thought that kylo ren was s good villain or even that memorable. for example. Poe is cool and he's nice, but not as memorable. ( I know, personal opinion)
the new characters are cool to watch, but I don't own any merch of them, but I will have a han solo toy for example. or luke or Vader.
with potter it will be tricky, the show has to be better than the movies ( I know it sounds unfair) and the new a toes have to captivate the audience more than the movies,
I'm sure they will wanna do rides or experiences, but it's gonna be tricky..
