If theme parks are open, it is likely that some people will get covid from them. However, if the parks are closed, it is likely that a lot of of these same people will get the virus eventually anyway from somewhere else.

Absolutely no way to know let alone prove that.

There are two reasons for my statement.
1. The virus will keep spreading until herd immunity is reached.
2. The kind of people who are willing to go theme parks during a pandemic are likely to engage in other risky actives on a regular basis.

We have no idea if it would even work, and to reach the levels where we could even find out if it does, the suffering and loss would have to be many times what we have seen already.

To control behavior, we need coherent messaging (which we totally lack) and overwhelming social pressure to force responsible behavior. And we also need to take away the option to do stupid things as far as possible, so risky places like bars, theatres, and theme parks need to be closed. Now.

Natural herd immunity is just not an option. It would lead to untold devastation. The only way we get herd immunity is through a vaccine.

Natural herd immunity won’t work, as studies are already showing that people don’t seem to have immunity who had the virus, at least no long term immunity.

Not necessarily that it won't work as this was brought up earlier and shows that hope isn't lost on the being protected from reinfection front.

It has been all over the news this past week that after a few months, testing can no longer detect antibodies in CV19 survivors. Does this really even matter considering the memory b cells are still holding the “recipe” to create more if needed?

It is disheartening to see scientists on the news say that it is “concerning” that antibody levels are undetectable after a few months and not mention memory b cells. It shouldn’t be concerning at all should it?

Yea, there is almost certainly immunity given, even if it's just for a shorter period of time like the flu. There has been *few* cases of reinfection, but they certainly seem to either be 1) Rare or 2) Just residual signs from the initial infection

yes. generally the reinfection claims end up being dead covid remnants when they recheck the lab results.

Yeah I think most of us get your point here already. You think theme parks should be closed. Go tweet or write to Universal and Disney. You keep on posting the same thing here. I’m sure most people are well aware of the risks of going to a theme park.

With attendance so low, and probably dropping even further once mid August arrives. that seems a natural.

And no, as gets proven again and again and again here (at at Universal itself), people are NOT well aware of the risks of going to a theme park.

I'm honestly not sure. I'd have to ask. All I was told was just that it was going dark next week with no plans for when/if it reopens.
