Good find! It seems like Trike may indeed return soon. That file was from September 2008, I noticed. Have they been working on bringing this back since then? It seems like a long time for such a simple project.

Well, I am only up to Nov. 1, 2008... hehehe. You would be AMAZED the span of time new docs of commencement have been being issued for Project Strongarm to various contractors. A few every month since late 2007.

I'm sure. I'll have to check out the documents one day. Keep us updated if you find anything else!

If this is anything important: I looked/ searched for trademarks of TE. I found 2 marks but both of them are dead. Heres the link:

http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=toc&state=4010%3Aqkm8vt.1.1&p_search=searchss&p_L=50&BackReference=&p_plural=yes&p_s_PARA1=&p_tagrepl%7E%3A=PARA1%24LD&expr=PARA1+AND+PARA2&p_s_PARA2=Triceratops+Encounter+&p_tagrepl%7E%3A=PARA2%24COMB&p_op_ALL=AND&a_default=search&a_search=Submit+Query&a_search=Submit+Query

Also Skipper island tours, but again dead:

What do you guys think?

Nice find! This time from late 2009 too. It definitely seems like it will return. As for the trademarks, I'm not sure about why they're dead. Maybe they will be renamed or renewed once the time comes?

I don't believe it is a question of might but how soon. Perry Automation Inc. is a precision engineering firm as well as a controller systems manufacturer. I believe the 2008 contract was a test on one paddock triceratops to see if they could engineer the mechanics to be more reliable. TE was expensive to maintain because the dino's kept breaking down as they were soooooo complicated. I think UNI wanted proof that they could do what was needed before they committed to all three creatures. The fact that they put out a commencement for all three paddocks tells me has Tri #1 been moving his lil tail off for months without fail and they got the go ahead to finish up all three.

I have to say all though this is a good experience id rather have it replaced by something more thrilling, the idea of dinosaur brings fear into the mind and id much rather have something where i encounter a scary dinosaur :'(

The "original" Jurassic Park is supposed to be like a zoo but with dinosaurs. You need something like a walkthrough to complete the experience. Hammond wouldn't have wanted his guests being attacked by more than one dinosaur!

I loved this attraction when it opened it was very simple (not technically)but very effective.I remember a boy crying his eyes out wanting to go back in because he was certain that it was real.

Thanks for sharing. I'm sure all that searching was a labor of love.

I've got to say I'm really psyched about Trike Encounter coming back. I know it isn't the most exciting attraction, but this will really help complete the JP experience.

I'm also crossing my fingers for Island Skipper Tours and a show in the Pandemonium Theather.

I know what you mean, but it would be a bit lame to have more than one attraction in JP where we get terrorized by dinosaurs. You don't want to beat that particular scenario to death. In my opinion, this attraction captured the spirit of JP more than any of the others. It gave you the chance to touch and see a "living, breathing dinosaur."

I agree. As a smaller child, I fell in love with Trike encounters. It was unfortunate knowing that it was soooo technically unreliable but it's also good to know that it'll be returning now that technology has gotten better and UO has been able to deem the trikes as more reliable than their previous trikes.

Anybody know offhand what month and year Triceratops Encounter closed? I never got to see the attraction, I visited IOA for the first time in 2003, so either I missed it on that trip or it was already closed.

It closed in 2005 not too sure what month though. Do you remember what month you went in, if it was like January February time it may of been down for rehab.

Wow, we just missed it I guess. Not sure why, my son was 9 and daughter 8 at the time, they would have loved it. We visited in late May 2003, again in 2004 and in 2005. The kids would not be interested in it now (they have moved on to the thrilling rides), but I would enjoy seeing the attraction if it re-opens.
