Some updates from Blog Mickey over the past few weeks below. Was at the park tonight and the canopy adds so much vibrancy to that side of the park. I really hope that the Speedway bites the dust sooner than later as that's just so much room to utilize for not only Tomorrowland, but they could split the plot with Fantasyland for a really cool addition there down the line. I do hope that something happens on the other side of the park first though as that side needs more and hasn't had a new ride (of substance) since Splash in 1992.

This is mine at my local park Toverland (they had the first one). It's fun but it doesn't have a whoopee cushion canopy and a mirror-box part. It goes 47mph and has a duration of just 1:08 minutes.

The thing that's absolutely insane about the build time on this thing is that this was announced in 2017, one year after SHDL opened (think about how long ago that is) and before construction started on Hagrid's. It'll be opening almost exactly 4 years after Hagrid.

This is payback for all the people defending Disney with Pandora's development/build speed.

And Velocicoaster was added as well as Hagrid's in that time. So, one heavily themed coaster and one moderately themed coaster have been added in less time than TRON. UNI Hollywood's Super Nintendo World started in 2019 (a full year after TRON) and will open before with far more theming and a little more difficult ride build.

There's a lot you guys haven't seen yet to justify some of the wait.

Not really.

Ironically it was 5.5 years between announcement and open of Pandora and they announced that land so early that WDI didn't even have concept art ready to go so technically Pandora still stands as a far faster actual construction timeline when you look at when construction started. Construction started on this ride in 2018. Construction started on Pandora in 2014.

So a five year build time for a singular, fairly mediocre coaster versus a three year build time for a land with two rides, an eatery, and complex and extensive rock work.

I think we are beating a dead horse here with this conversation. I’m just ready to for the ride to officially open already.

I'm actually expecting guest softs might be a thing for this ride (which hasn't been normal for quite some time outside of AP holders and DVC Members) considering Splash will be closed and with Spring Break crowds in March, they may feel the need to open the ride to guests at some point in the month to relieve pressure off of Space Mountain and the rest of the park during March as long as they are ready to go with opening day staff and everyone is fully trained.

They would have to run a VQ for them. Seeing what Splash was today if softs popped up on social the area would be gridlocked with people hanging out.

Most AP types are blocked out during the Spring Break stretch so sure the bloggers would show up, but most AP types wouldn't even have access though. I do fully expect the ride to open with VQ and for it to be removed from GotG around the same time.

Seeing the pics of the crowds at Splash today makes me 100% even more happy that I chose to go yesterday. You don't get a prize for being there on the last day and I can guarantee you there's gonna be a bunch of people jumping in line at 10:59 tonight to try to be the last ones on, which only makes you a douchebag that's making CM's stay later than they're likely scheduled until so that you can be the last on the ride. And it's not even like the ride itself is going away, it's just the theming around the ride. People are ridiculous.

Some of the lighting effects I've seen are extremely complicated on even the most basic of signs. Every surface has a curve to it.

It's a lot different than just making something look like bricks, or wood, etc.

That's not really answering the questions. Is is any different than this? Because this is not worth the wait to me imo. It will be nice to have in the park, but it could've opened at least two years ago had they not foolishly stopped construction during the covid closure and then taken about a year to restart construction on the ride.

I mean, why would it look different? It's a direct clone.

I'll be there the week after. I can see it now. I'll be walking with my wife in MK and a cast member will come up and ask me if I would like to go into the Grid. Of course, I will and then, after riding it, I will lord it over all of you. Of course, with my luck, the coaster will somehow get stuck and I'll be stranded for an hour just to remind me that pride goes before a fall.
