I think they could at least add the Mystery Machine to the parade to include Hanna-Barbera. Last time I checked Scooby-Doo was still popular with the kiddies! We will just have to wait and see whenever they add to it or not.

They probably don't have the rights/license/whatever-you-call-it to use those characters anymore.

The Scooby-Doo characters or Hannah-Barbera in general? Because Scooby and Shaggy were doing meet and greets in October, and the Mystery Machine was out and about in the park.

Yeah, I was hoping we'd get some of those floats. I think at least Shrek & co. were deserving of their own float.

A sign the Shrek attraction itself is on borrowed time?????

Though, I highly doubt it.

Again, guys, there's no guarantee that the 4 announced floats are the only ones. I bet you anything there'll be at least one or two more floats that they didn't mention. And seeing those floats, I really hope I'm right.

While you may be right, I can guarantee you that if Shrek or Jurassic Park was going to be included in this parade, it's not something Universal would be keeping secret.

Well I imagine they put a decent amount of money into it, and since I assume most people skipped it in theaters they're (Universal) probably hoping that the film will have a second life on DVD....Only natural they would include it in the parade. Companies tend to want to earn the money they put into a film back. Just sayin.

Well that's like saying it's okay for Disney to put a Mars Needs Moms float in one of their parades because it didn't have a stellar box office run...... :look:

Were they? I was speculating that because I didn't remember seeing them at UO in a while. So then, maybe they could include them, if UO is still using Scooby in the park :)

I also doubt it. Shrek had a bunch of movies, a Broadway show, a popular spin-off with Puss in Boots, and there's always a crowd in Shrek 4D. Maybe because it's at the entrance of the park, maybe it's also popular. I don't think Shrek 4D is that horrible, myself. And I think it's different than the other attractions in the park--even T2:3D because the moving seats in Shrek 4D are a bigger part of the attraction-- so I think it's good to have it there. But anyways, going back to the parade, I think they could totally include Shrek if they wanted to. They even have the costumes already, since the characters are in the meet-n-greets and the Macy's parade.

I didn't even see the film, but I'm guessing Uni thinks that Hop is good for this due to the family-friendly nature of it, and how colorful it is. I also understand it fits in on a "season" level because the parade is supposed to start in the Spring, but I would have chosen something that has a wider appeal and that would be fun and great year-round.

I think HOP is being included for the following reasons

1. They own it
2. It is family friendly
3. The characters are adorable
4. Hop did 100 million in the US and a total of 183 million worldwide making it a profitable and popular property that UO owns
5. It is current.

Hop made $100 million in the US and some of you are acting like it's a flop? I honestly had no idea that it did so well.

I had no idea either. It was panned critically across the board. There were even some claims of offensive material in the movie. But when your budget is $63 million, it's not terribly impressive. But not really much of a flop either

Yep... I remember seeing the Mystery Machine heading through the gates backstage with Scooby coming from a meet and greet... and was Shaggy with him...

Strange change in attitude from all those times you poop on Disney for things like FLE being too "kiddie" when we've known all along it would be quality. Now all of a sudden, just because it's Uni, we're quoting Walt and saying people will like it as long as it's quality? Talk about contradicting thoughts.

My problem with FLE has never been, and will never be that it's too kiddy. It's Fantasyland. My problem is that it's a colossal "meh" project. Nothing worthwhile or exciting to be found in it, especially now that the mine train has been widdled down to a shell of its original plans.

But nice try.
