Terror on Church Street was amazing, wish I had gone more but I really didn't care for downtown when I got here (still kinda don't). First night after I was all moved into my college Apt saw a bunch of weird stuff and then got chased by a clown with a pot and ladle (this was NOT anywhere near Terror on Church Street fyi)

Anyways, I heard it closed down more because that was the most expensive building location in Orlando at the time. No haunt is going to survive that, heck few businesses can not even Church Street Station

I can defintitly see this doing better in Chicago than Las Vegas. Vegas is over saturated with tourist gimmicks. While Chicago has its share as well, I think it will be more popular with locals there.

I know they have to change them every now and then but I hope that the Monsters house can just be redone.

The other three year change them whenever (exorcist I hope is the first to go...should have been Black Phone if you are doing Blumhouse)

There is something very different from a local haunt that only does a short-run event every 2-3 months (while relying heavily on volunteers), and a 365-day event with four distinctly designed haunts. Unleashed can’t really do seasonal changeovers to the houses. They can’t get “surges” outside of October. It’s not like they can throw a Santa hat on Leatherface.

Unleashed is basically a “locked” experience. Any house change would require its total options to decrease for 4-6 months. It’s a situation where its primary option for improvement will also involve a long-term subtraction. That means its total HAS to be exceedingly high to begin with to survive that period of loss. First impression is that it’s not high enough. That means those subtractions will hurt… bad.

This doesn’t even acknowledge the fact that Vegas, as a vacation destination, is starting to hurt. Tourism and spend is markedly down (and trending to continue down). The fatalism is coming from a legitimate place.

I think this is a great explanation of the legitimate concerns regarding longevity. You brought it up here, but I just realized I hadn't even thought about the logistics of how they will change a house and what that looks like for the experience while it's happening.

About the minor criticisms about this feeling too “warehouse-y”, isn’t the backstory for this place in that it’s literally a warehouse blocked up by LT?

happy to shift the criticism to “the theme is unimaginative and boring” instead haha.

I mean probably, but honestly the place visually looks fine outside of the Jack show and the gift shop.

Just a quick note - I loved this place at their original location. The 2-story building on the corner of S Orange Ave. It's now a high rise + movie theater.

After watching videos of Unleashed, thought I give you guys my POV of Unleashed.

it’s definitely an Entertainment Center based haunt attraction with a high quality theme park setting and faint club elements. Not trying to be a full-on takeover, it’s more like a hub with that upscale, night-out feel, which is exactly what they’re doing since the attraction was planned out. It’s like seeing Dave & Buster’s doing its own take of Halloween Horror Nights without the arcade. That’s the type of analogy I’m seeing, as social space for tourists, locals, casual guests, and haunt goers.

If there’s a way to expand it other than swapping out the houses from time to time, then they could do more than one show by booking comedians/comedy acts and smaller or mid level bands for certain nights. It’d obviously cost more as an add on, but In order for the guests to come back, then layering in live entertainment would give it more of that “something’s always happening here” energy.

And the biggest bonus is they can use the club-style spaces and AV setup. The more the venue feels like a community hub for guests other than as an attraction, the easier it’ll be to keep the buzz alive between house refreshes in the future. The only issue I see that it could make the crowd too packed and difficult to handle during the set.

It is, but I definitely think some walls are looking a little barren, presumably to maintain the "black box"-ness of all the houses so they can switch them out without needing to chance the surrounding theming, but it wouldve been nice to at least have a bit more set dressing with maybe old HHN banners and larger props hanging up on the outer walls, or at least some spooky glowing cracks or something.
The houses and bars are clearly where the focus and money went, but it's hard to not be a little disappointed by the other less themed areas when the initial ads used UM: Unmasked and Dr Oddfellows as examples of the environments you'd be in outside the houses, since it doesn't feel like they really paid off that level of detail for the in-between spaces.

one thing I found funny about the videos from this on YouTube is how clean and shiny and pristine the floors are and how bright it is. it's not a negative point but it was just funny. it's very spacious. very nice lighting.

these vids reminds me of the videos of the DC land at abu dhabi.
