Perhaps they didn't want to build The Krusty Krab because of the expectations that come with it. Based on the early concept, The Krusty Krab was going to be a counter-service stand with no interior. This park doesn't appear to have any proper sit-down restaurants, and I can't imagine the food on offer is going to be anything special. They may not want to mislead people into thinking there is a "real Krusty Krab" if they have no intention to meaningfully deliver on that premise.

I don't necessarily think it would not to be a proper sit-down restaurant, I think a normal quick service location with indoor seating would be fine

Also...its Texas is there not a burger joint?

The funny thing is as someone who travels to Texas alot...the food should be good. Like I've rarely had bad food in Texas, so hope most the food is leveled up

All details released for this today, and I just have to say...

Universal has to be trolling at this point, right? A dedicated Spongebob land with NO KRUSTY KRAB?

My GUESS is there’s some larger rights issues with Krusty Krab as they’ve done national food promos before. Or Nick wanted too much money from the food sales.

I worded it poorly, but that is what I meant. I believe all the restaurants at the park are outdoor counter-service, which included the Krusty Krab they had originally planned.

Yeah, I don't think there's any reason to believe this is Universal missing an open-goal opportunity.

That said, I do think building the Krusty Krab in a way that actually satisfies fans is a massive challenge. Best of luck to whoever decides to take this on!

It's kind of like the "Pizza Planet" thing for Disney, albeit on a much larger scale I think.

While I fully acknowledge that I am not the target demographic of this park (not a child and do not have any kids), I'm still finding it really difficult to get excited about this park. It just looks like a collection of flats and off-the-shelf coasters to me with very light theming. I dunno.

Agreed. I'll be curious to see what the price point is for this, because it looks very blah to me at this point.

This basically looks like a Universal version of Sesame Place. We have a Sesame Place near me in Philadelphia, and it's essentially what you said. Flats, off-the-shelf coasters, a show, meet and greets, and a small water park.

It's incredibly popular with families and kids lol

I mean, hey, this is clearly a model that works regionally. If they don't charge too high a premium for the marquee IPs being featured, I could see it working here, too.

The scope is a function of the desired admission price.
