I wonder if they're having trouble finding enough local staff. Six Flags Over Texas isn't even opening some attractions because they're having that issue right now.

With so much construction still ongoing, I'm not sure that’s the issue. The park just isn't ready yet.

That and summer definitely isn’t the time these parks are understaffed. Six flags will be just fine the second school lets out in 9 more days.

Universal also pays better and is way better to work for (not that they’re competing for staff based on how far they are away from one another).

They would also be having massive hiring events like they had several weeks (maybe 2 months now?) ago. Which they aren’t. I do wonder what the in-park staff (ride ops, merch, F&B, etc) who were hired a couple months back is doing just sitting on their hands waiting for a start date. That’s gonna be crazy to plan for their livelihoods.

If they've hired mostly teenagers and retirees, probably don't have to plan for their livelihoods as much.

I do wonder how gas prices are going to impact workers getting to the parks though.

That mixed it being right off the tollway is going to be messy. You don't have to take it, but for us it's a straight shot and takes about 20 minutes using tolls. Without it's 50+ minutes.

I assume you're coming from south of Frisco and yeah, it's a mess depending on the time of day to get to the parks if you don't take DNT. And the section where you get off of DNT is going to be a nightmare, but that area is a nightmare even without out a new theme park that I assume is going to pull in ~6K/day.

Unless they're going to be operating seasonally like a Six Flags does; they won't be able to depend on teens (unless we are saying 18-19 as teens). They'll need 18+ and out of high school, even with it being a smaller park with less complex staffing.

I assume they will operate more similarly to LEGOLAND Florida or even the DFW-local Peppa Pig. 9-4 (or 9-5), closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. So yeah, during the school year, high schoolers will not be able to work. I imagine they've partnered with Collin College and will be doing significant job fairs there to recruit. The issue is that they're in a rather affluent part so the locals in Frisco are going to be hard pressed to fill the positions (outside of college students and retirees). UO, while in the Dr. Phillips area and has affluent neghborhoods around it, they're also in a position to be close enough to Metrowest, Sea World (I forget what the community name is around there), and Orlo Vista where they have access to a wide range of workers.

You're not really getting that in Frisco and I don't know if you get a lot of it in Little Elm or McKinney or Prosper. So it'll be interesting to see where they pull the worker pool from.

Definitely not prosper- that’s the wealthiest in our pocket (though they have a tiny population). Little elm, sure. McKinney is pretty on par with frisco just folks are a bit less pretentious so likely more employees from there. And north Plano, of course.

The good news is everything up north is blowing up at an insane pace, and with that will come some cheaper homes and apartments (comparatively to what we have now).

Yeah, I'm north of Prosper. North Plano is still pretty afluent. The question becomes... is it worth them to drive 20 minutes (same for those coming from McKinney).

North of Prosper is definitely exploding (I'm watching it daily as the DNT is built next to my house), but it's probably still 2-3 years away from having cheaper homes/apartments that people want to move to. It's definitely getting there, but it's still going to be primarily families with kids.

Hearing that travel agents have been given an opening date. I would think this means we'll get an official announcement of sorts very soon.

Klook is showing starting prices at $65/one day and $86/two day tickets. Starting July 1st. Ages 2+ will need a ticket. Under 2 is free.

Assuming July 1st could be the placeholder opening day, but 2+ being charged and those prices are almost assuredly accurate.

Particularly because the dates you can buy tickets are variable pricing with July 4th weekend and Labor Day weekend peaking at $92.19/ticket.

Other weekends look to be $86.75 while weekdays are $75.85. The $64.95 price starts mid-week September 8th.

Pretty sure these are the prices, folks.

Good find.

I think that all lines up with what I thought the pricing would be. I’m a bit surprised at 2+ needing tickets but considering the age they’re targeting I think that works out.

Wow!! Great find!! Dates line up with a DM I got from someone who claimed they worked at UKR and that the first week of July would be the opening date.

I’m over here hoping and praying they have annual passes.

2+ is needed at Legoland, Sesame Place and Peppa Pig. So it's in line with any age-comparable parks.

I would have been surprised if they allowed < 3 free.

Which (if true) would mean end of June (or earlier) softs? A month later than I expected, but is what it is. I hope they took into account the flood we seem to be getting over the next 2 weeks. :lmao:
