I'd argue that due to it being a working studio, no SS is a guaranteed location & could potentially get taken away from HHN during the planning process/beginning stages of construction

SS44 in Orlando, house was halfway built before getting yanked from HHN for Transformers.

Did we already forget they took 2016's Exorcist from Mummy & put it in a SS. It was awful because it was designed for Mummy, not a SS. Plus they flipped the rooms so it flowed weird too.

Despite this year's "Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines" shortcomings (pun intended?), a lot of this discussion is straying way off the path of the house itself. We should probably try to stay in the Van Helsing crypt for at least these last 2 weekends.

Look at any other haunt and ask why wouldn't it be possible. Some mazes use their infrastructure on purpose (anything in Parisian) and are planned that way (or if Knotts, the Mystery Lodge where Grimoire is now). But imagine if the reverse happened. A tent maze is then relegated to Parisian. It now has to account for an outside sequence, a hallway courtyard, and a very specific ending that spits out into French street. Essentially, the middle of the maze is most affected, but everything else would probably stay the same or similar.

Now think of the opposite. The space is now bigger. Why not take off the roof or push back the walls to extend vertically? If designed as a tent maze, there are specific hallways designed for scareactors to go through to get to booholes and what not. Again, I get it. But now you have the ability to open everything up. Just take up double the space. Does that mean longer hallways and more wood? Does that mean more scareactors? Ofcourse, budget will always be an issue. But it's absolutely purposeless to utilize a soundstage and give it only a quarter (if that!) of it's space.

KSF has warehouses that you can tell they use every inch of that and those mazes feel much longer, bigger, and taller than HHN (in particular scenes). KSF mazes are a bit more confined in their pathways (maybe 15-25% thinner). But also, these warehouses are only 1/4 the size of any given soundstage. A soundstage maze should be INSANE. The facade at the least should be massive. AvP and Weeknd are the only ones to really go crazy in that aspect. Why is the Weeknd the first time they've ever put someone on a platform above the maze? And it wasn't even done well?! There's been so many soundstage mazes at this point, how has the experimentation not gone beyond that?

You brought up an excellent point! It boggles my mind how after all of these years, they finally and I mean FINALLY realized “Hey, we can actually have a scareactor above people in a house!” I really wish they would try to utilize that position for an actual scare.

I think the reason why they can’t have it as a scare (Just an educated guess) is because that would involve the actor being on a harness to scare, which would spill over into stunt territory. Now that would be outside of AGVA, and now into Action Horizons territory, this demanding a higher budget.

You guys, with respect, this is fantasy logic. Unless the location switch happened during the very earliest stages of conceptualization, there is no easy way to just "expand out" the scenic. That would require an immense amount of work -- redoing elevations, cut sheets, plywood + other production orders. It's just not practical.

that's what I was kind of thinking. the placement of stuff and props and the placement for actors seem pretty precise. the architecture of the house is got to be pretty precise and detailed,

I did this house again on Wednesday after trashing it completely when I went back in September and I gotta say... I was pleasantly surprised. I had two really great runs. The first one I was completely alone in the house and it was fully staffed! Shocking. Lol. It makes me feel bad because I trashed this house a lot but now I really like it. I wish I gave it more of a chance but I'm glad I got some great runs. Also probably the most fun house to take pictures/videos in.

Did they slow down the repetition of the narration yet? It's the most grating thing about this maze.

It's kind of a problem in a lot of the mazes this year -- I noticed a lot of repeating lines in Insidious and Texas. The audio timing is assuming you're moving at a brisk pace, but with how many people they stuff in there, everything slows to a crawl.

Gave this maze another shot an hour after it opened and there were at least eight holes. No one killing Saskia or reacting to her, for example - completely empty scene. Embarrassing.

on my run for this house
there was little to no one guiding the way which was fine
but there was a group of teens just touching everything and with flash
they even touched Dracula's foot and wiggled it around.
