I believe what you are seeing on the platform right now ARE the pumps. Evidence of this are the wires running out of them right now and it looks like each has some sort of screen on it. I don't think they need any external pumps running to these with pumps that big.

I know it was asked a couple days ago but is it possible that the boat house that had a garage door installed be the pump house? The location in close proximity to the platform would make it an ideal spot to pump water from. I think that because for the amount of jets and fountains they are using you will need a certain PSI of water pressure to keep all jets and fountains running. The further away from the actual show location would mean a bigger drop in PSI per foot and would require bigger pumps and more energy. With details as scarse as they are I don’t expect anyone to know but just wanted to put my thoughts out there.

On a side note I will take back what I originally said about this platform being temporary. This certainly isn’t a temporary set up this is more permanent in the sense that it will be around for a long time.

I am really excited to see the final result of this project and what Entertainment/UC has come up with for this show.

It looks like there is one fountain per silver box thingy...It looks like they all have their own pump....I'm not really an engineer though haha

Also, the brass fittings aren't the fountain heads. But they will connect to them. There should also be a coller with LED lights. I believe that is what the colored wires are for.

I think that's an incredibly negative and dismissive attitude towards this. Just because we're seeing a layout with screens and fountains doesn't mean this is a WoC "clone". World of Color wasn't the first theme park fountain and projection show, even at Disney... There are shows all over the world before WoC and after. To immediately dismiss this because it's looking similar in show hardware is like saying every painting is the same because it uses paint and canvas.

The content, music, style of show are all going to play a part in what this becomes and how ambitious it is. If it's good why does it matter? The content alone can still be ambitions.

And let's face it, already this is looking way bigger than anything Universal has done show-wise. We have all been asking for a better nighttime offering and it looks like they're finally answering that with something that is pretty substantial. So we should be applauding and celebrating that. Someone greenlit money for something here in the park that is purely to make the end of your experience better. You can't market or monetize it like an attraction, so I'm sure from a financial standpoint these shows are hard to justify... Especially at Universal. So for them to invest like this I think is pretty amazing.

So yes, they have fountains and projections and fireworks and drones like other shows, but I'm very happy and going to be supportive of their decision to do this. Everyone in the know is saying this show is going to be different and good and I'm going to trust them until opening day when I can see for myself. So don't be bummed, be excited! This thing has the potential to.... finally..... be a world class and stellar nighttime show at Universal, fountains or otherwise!

Yes you can monetize it... Besides Dinner packages and special upcharge viewing (potentially), a show like this keeps people in the park longer than they would otherwise, which means spending more money.

So actually, you're right. UOR doesn't have to monetize it much at all. It monetizes itself.

Right. Of course every addition to the park can contribute to secondary spend, but it's turns at the gate that parks care about and use to justify big capitol expenses. Parks don't typically see a justification to spend E ticket budgets on shows like this unless it's guaranteed to give a positive ROI through ticket sales and indirect sales such as marketing and sponsorships. So I think it's great they justified the cost to do a big show like this. I hope it pays off for them and they do more.

We have all wished that the parks would stay open later. It is shows like this that will make that happen. Evening events are important to motivate people to stay all the way till close.

That would be unusual compared to other large fountain shows but I dunno the technical details of this show.

Interestingly, a show like Fantasmic at HS basically pays for itself through concessions and vendor merch sales in the amphitheater. Same with fireworks at Magic Kingdom. Many guests find a spot and hour or two before the show, then members of the group go buy snacks, or starbucks, and the kids beg for light up souvenirs. It's a model that allows them to put on such high budget shows. They see exactly what guests spend during their time waiting. This is also why you see balloon vendors walking up and down Mainstreet before parades. It's to pay for the entertainment.

The reason I had that thought was some of the fountains had a bolted connector piece attached. If the units were self sufficient why the need to plumb them together? I do agree that the other long rectangular units are self sufficient and contain necessary pumps inside. In Bio’s picture you can see the connections I am talking about.

The connections you're talking about are for the movable effects heads. Because they are positioned higher a connection to a pump below is needed. It will more than likely be connected to a rectangle unit.

I would assume that the fountains are from Aquatique since they did the fountains and rain curtains for the last show.

The fountains with open connections in the first picture connect to the rectangular pumps directly adjacent to them - notice these pumps are slightly larger than the others and also have an open connection.

I believe the second picture shows the water screens with an open connector as well as the pumps that will eventually feed them.

Great videos. I'm a big fan of The Fountains of Bellagio. I realize no show can be on that scale in the lagoon but anything like the videos you showed would be very welcome

I don't think those a pumps, the appear to be the equipment used to turn on/off the fountains with from a main pump, if that makes sense.

It does doesn’t it. Along with the obvious one and a fairly recent old but new hit.

Yes, the black cone shaped objects are mist screens. I bet someone wishes they’d been able to patent them.

Fun stuff!

I would guess that they will sell LED stuff that "glows with the show" like Disney and SeaWorld did with their night shows. That stuff is highly profitable and an easy sell to parents of kids.

That, and the fact that the writing on the wooden crates is in both French and English. ;)

Crazy how much infrastructure is going in here. The good thing is this gives them a permanent show platform and they can continue iterating/improving on it
