I'm mildly concerned about how much of a design "reinvention" or "modern update" Universal is going to attempt to apply to these characters. I really think they risk overthinking it if they go too far, turning the characters into generic versions.

This is just me, but I think the HHN versions look fine and dandy.

As far as I’ve heard, more true to the originals than the HHN ones. Just slightly more menacing, less “person in a costume” feel.

I wonder if this dark ride will go upside down or feature any coaster elements? The Kuka Arm is capable of stuff like that.

Given that the land is being “toned down” a bit to attract in families, having the main dark ride invert probably wouldn’t be the smartest move.

Ehh, there's a difference between the land and the ride. Plenty of family friendly areas have thrill rides. Just look at Jurassic Park.

I still can’t even begin to express how insanely happy I am the Classic Monsters are getting their own theme park land. Easily my most anticipated land outside of SNW.

That's promising to hear. There's definitely an acceptable balance that can be hit that would please pretty much everybody.

My hot take is that I've never been overly impressed with the HHN iterations, but I've cut them some slack because they were part of (very elaborate, yes) temporary special events, not permanent theme park installations.

In a fully-realized and more controlled theme park land, I'd be hoping for slightly more fidelity to the original looks (while ramping up the visceral intensity a bit).

FYI, the central area taken over by some of the coaster was more than just a courtyard area...

It's had that name for a bit now, so unless something changes it'll be that.

I heard something else but it could pop up elsewhere. Sorry to be vague, ask again later.

To include all the Monsters this seems like the smartest and most unique way to go about it. I love the idea of a totally traumatized town that is known for having monsters so some people go to visit, only in classic Universal, for something to go wrong and we end up in chaos. Aka, THEY’RE BACK.

The land seems like a homage to me as I think was mentioned in the video. Still curious about how themed the coaster will be as everything else seems impecable. Most anticipated land, for sure.

Personally I think the dark ride will invert to set it apart from FJ more, also it is monsters so its gotta be a little intense!

Let's not forget the awesome preshow that Screamscape described for the main ride.

As one of my friends said, they're coming for Hondo's neck with that.

The original plans had a very large covered seating area in that space. With additional facades built around some of it. Then it was downsized to a caravan of carts as what I assume would be backdrop for meet and greets. But by the time site plans were permitted with the County, it did not have any structures zoned for the area other than some foundations, and that's what I meant.

Also, going WAY FAR BACK, there were also early concepts for a show to be a part of the land with stunts performed within this area. Maybe that's what you mean. In any case, no buildings permitted last year that needed to be removed for new permits this year for coaster, other than a drink stand.

Maybe they could have some jars of brains with one labeled "A.B. Normal".

Glad they went away from the Hester/Chester and going towards generational trauma. Much more fitting though sobering. I do have to worry will this face the issue we saw with Batuu with the lack of kinetic energy. But I've very much more happy with what Alicia's video revealed than I was previously.

I think the coaster is a better family option here than the show and something else.

Generational trauma is to the 2020s what touristy kitsch was to the 90s.

how to train your dragon will have that splash battle boat ride

the attraction in the hub (whatever carousel or flat ride it may be) looks to be surrounded by water at least, but will likely not get riders wet

I love how many coasters EU is opening with, I am pleased

It seems Universal has heard all of the negatives with FJ and this may be the true showcase of what a Kuka ride can accomplish

Also, side note, it's funny to me how Universal attempted to roll out the Monsters in a "cinematic universe" when they already were a cinematic universe, like the original

Also also, as far as updating the "designs" of the characters...the Universal Monsters can support more design changes than, say, Mario

Consider how many iterations we've seen of the Monsters in HHN, for instance...I can't imagine they would go "too far" because too far is pretty far out there
