The Dark Universe merch is definitely too “loud” for me. I need their horror merch to be a little bit more subtle overall (including HHN).

However, I’m gonna hold out hope for Celestial Park to have some really unique items. Leveraging your IP lands is a great idea at this point, but let’s not forget that there is a totally original 5th land to show some love.

Beside Ministry is it safe to say the ride that has the most show elements off or not functional would be Stardust?

What show elements? I remember there being some talk about something happening in the tunnel under the station but honestly there's just no time. You're in and out of there fast.

There might be some additional lighting elements but generally speaking the coaster seems complete.

Why does the Dark Universe merch look like that? I can’t believe Universal can make something as incredible as Epic and a lot of their merchandise still kinda looks like bootleg Amazon junk.

I’m just not much for overly noisy designs. This has been a problem with HHN merch too lately

The Dark Universe merch is like the Horror Nights merch which is like NASCAR merch. I dunno if it looks like that because the people who dig those things like the terrible designs or if people dig those terrible designs because that's what the merch has always looked like.

There's a ton of Merch in the land that does not have that aesthetic so this conversation is a little silly to me.

As someone who has been collecting Classic Monsters stuff since my 1990s childhood, I can assure you that particular design aesthetic would not have been my first choice!

That said, this promo shot is more (if not necessarily entirely) along the right path:

Utilizing the 1990s character logos goes a long way.

While that's good to hear, in total fairness, those of us who haven't been in the park yet can only judge what Universal chooses to show-off at this early point. This is the stuff Universal wanted to lead with, so it's in-bounds to talk about whether we like it or not.

There's definitely room for a merch line that feels more "in-universe."

And I still maintain my wacky idea for a Doctor Dreadful-style "build your own monster laboratory" line would be pretty cool!

Does a highly anticipated blockbuster movie lead with its full trailer or a teaser? When the full trailer comes out do they even show you the best scene? You’ve probably seen 5% of the merch available for sale, they’re saving the really good stuff for closer to opening or for the media to post pictures of and hype up.

I'm gonna need that Wolfman sling bag.. I already finally gave in & bought the Dark Universe preview merch version with the lightning design.

I don't hate the Frankenstein shirt, but I wish the text was on the front & graphic on the back.

Nowadays? Yes. Because marketing doesn't know how to edit trailers anymore. They lack teasing & misdirection skills
