Yeah, it wasn't clear, my guess is that it would since it does give you the merchandise discount but might have to call to confirm that one.

Sounds about right. My Costco pass from last year included the discount, so my guess is hopefully this pass will too. Looks like the best deal right now, will definitely look into purchasing it.

Based on the Costco page, the new Costco pass is essentially identical to the CA Resident Plus Annual Pass (same blackout calendar and discounts) with a nice discount.

Did your costco pass last year say NDO for no discounts too?

^ Nope, I still had discounts. I just couldn't use them during blackout dates (such as when I visited during HHN where a daytime visit was a blackout date).

This is fun. Can they make the pass situation any more confusing? They keep introducing more and more passes. How many more passes will they introduce between now and the new year...over/under 2.5

I'm just waiting until they institute one that has a parking pass upgrade. That'll be really fun to figure out.

Looks like I was right. Well, half-right. Now there's a shake up of pass levels.

CA resident and plus annuals are gone

now it's back to season passes.

2016 pass plus is $139 online with some weekends

and the usual season pass that's $119 with no weekends.

gold and platinum annuals are still available and at the same price

Just when I thought that Universals selection of passes couldn't get worse.  That Season Pass Plus is a joke for what you get. If you want a good laugh, just look at the August blackout calendar.

Man, Universal AP/SP ticket system is a mess.  They just cannot make up their minds on what they want to offer.

As of today, here are the current AP/SP active in their system:

-12-Month Value Pass

-12-Month No Blackout Pass

-12-Month Premium Star Pass

-Platinum Pass

-Gold Pass

-CA Plus Pass

-CA Pass

-Costco Annual Pass

-Costco Plus Annual Pass

-2016 Season Pass

-2016 Season Pass Plus

What a freaking mess.

It's funny cause they wanted to tone down what they had in circulation. They had so many calendars

but here they go again

It appears that Universal's new Season Pass Plus offers more weekends in May and June than the outgoing CA Resident Plus pass. Perhaps they're projecting low numbers for June, and they're longing to get more guests through.

All in all, I'm somewhat shocked (but ultimately not surprised) they haven't settled down on a system after all these modifications. Constant change like this is bad, and it simply frustrates and confuses your customers. Even with all these reduced tiers, they still have more annual pass options than their competitors - all at the expense of what? Are they simply confused, or do they lack decisiveness?

I wonder if there is turnover in that office. New person keeps coming in to put their stamp and then leaves. It really makes me wonder what us going on behind the scenes.

The worst part about the whole annual/season pass thing is that none of them are even worth the price. Maybe the Costco one is worth it? But still, USH needs a price reality check... even if it is Hollywood. I love how I was contemplating about giving in to the CA resident AP and they get rid of it. I have to wonder if a better CA resident pass is on the way or if they will continue to snub the people who help pay their bills/employees.

The Costco one is definitely worth it.  But yeah, the other ones are questionable.

I think that they were caught off guard that the whole of California has yet to show up at their doorstep so they're now planning anything to seduce anyone who may have felt offended by the previous passes back, even if it confuses the vigilant market. I guess by this point they know most people will just shrug having already bought their passes and that they hope to have the pass selection slimmed down for good by 2017 when those aformentioned people return to renew.

Very short-term thinking going on right now.

While there is a glut of passes as it is, it really irks me that there's nothing between the top two level passes.  That's a $300 gap.  I really wish there was a pass that was like the top tier one, but perhaps with blackout days and no HHN ticket (but all other features) to make it more affordable.  Or if not that, at least allow for a parking pass add on option.

My old Premium Pass expires at the end of July.  I'm really crossing my fingers they do either one of those options before I renew.

I'm not sure about other Platinum Pass holders, but that would completely wipe away the value of that tier for me. That pass is already incredibly overpriced, and a add-on like that for lower tiers would render it almost worthless.
