Old. We’ve talked about how they almost pulled the trigger on DreamWorks Theatre a few years back. Now we have proof.

But it’s Villain-Con now.

The placement of the entrance in that artwork is interesting. I wonder if any of that layout (minus the interior) would be in play for Minions.

But it’s Villain-Con now.

Probably right call, tbh. If Villain Con can be a mini dark ride/shoot game hybrid for kids it fills a good need for the front of the park.

I do wonder if this project is being used as a safety net for the future. Minion mayhem is relatively new but the theater and ride system date all the way back to Hana-Barbara just with a new coat of paint. It would make sense if they were putting in a new despicable me attraction so that the IP will be kept in the park when the old simulator inevitably runs out of its service life. Minion mayhem seems decently popular but it’s not one of their star attractions, so when it begins to have age-related issues I’d be surprised to see any mummy-style refurb to keep it going. They might be doing this new minions attraction so that when it comes time to replace minion mayhem, they can start fresh with a new IP while still milking despicable me’s popularity somewhere else. But that’s just my take on it

Not a bad theory. I don’t MM would leave until it must, but I also still can’t believe they haven’t done anything bigger with the IP here.

Looking at the concept, If they went through with the DreamWorks theater I see they would have modified the Shrek building to make it one large theatre. What would they have done to where Shrek's Ye Old gift shop was? and would they have still allocated part of the building for HHN? Any chance they could put the DreamWorks theatre back on the table for USF maybe in KidZone to replace what used to be Barney?

In the artwork, It looks like there is some kind of door/entry area parallel with the gift shop for DM. Maybe that's where the shop would be. I think putting anything big in Kidzone takes away the ability to do something grand scale like SNW down the line. Although I do agree with you that Dreamworks should have more representation.

I hope we're still going to get that indoor queue, but considering it was concept art for a pre covid attraction that isn't even happening I'm not holding my breath.

I would love to have Dreamworks theater here, but I also get why it wouldn’t be the best type of new ride for USF. The theater attraction honestly looks better than the Kung Fu Panda boat ride in Beijing.

At this point, I’m just hoping Villian Con ends up being worthy addition to the park.it’s certainly an interesting concept.

Since it's not a pure simulator of 3D movie like Shrek, I can only see it being a net positive change for the park. Just might not be a huge net gain, baby steps I guess.

I think parts of what could have been Florida's DWT looks better than the one in Hollywood. And we would have gotten a gift shop too. But TBH I think Villain Con sounds more intriguing than the DWT. But who knows maybe DWT can make it's a way to Florida someday. Maybe in Kidzone?
