I'm not aware of any other water parks opening this summer but I could be wrong.

I still have a feeling that there is something major happening on the water coaster inside the volcano.

Whether it be some AAs or a 360 screen.

I'm actually inclined to say it's not VB related. Universal doesn't want people to think that its attractions are commodities. I would be shocked if they didn't have language in their contracts to stop manufacturers from building similar ride systems elsewhere (see: Kuka) for their flagship rides.

Pretty much everything in VB is off the shelf. It's the theming that sets it aside.

Off the shelf is probably the wrong term but everything has been picked from an existing catalogue. With maybe with the exception of the water coaster, they pick a model, design it how they see fit, I don't think there is any unique elements here.

Yup, i've been on pretty much all of the slides that I see at VB, leave out the Water Coaster as I feel that will be fairly unique to other water coasters. Obviously the slides are custom to what Universal wanted, but they're still all pretty much all things i've been on.

What separates VB from other parks is that the collection of slides is all within the same park, making it one of, if not the best collection of slides at a water park in the United States at the very least.

I think there are going to be quite a bit of surprises that we haven't been told about yet that proslide knows about. Remember some of the rafts such as the one that sprays water from the middle and such haven't been seen in other parks.

Once again, it is the water slide that sprays water out of it through the middle of the huge saucers. It is NOT the rafts. Watch the video

Yeah, to echo what some others have been saying - you're not seeing anything innovative here other than the theme (and even then, I can think of a few parks that do it better)

What has me most surprised is that for custom water slides - Universal has really picked the most basic of layouts that you could think of for their slides.

The green family slide repeats the same pattern 3 times.
Six Flags Fiesta Texas is building a wayyyy more advanced saucer ride than the one in Volcano Bay
The funnel slide is just plain short - just like the saucer slide
The blue wave wall slide is about half the size of the one at Adventure Island.

Seriously - go to Volcano Bay for the overall experience, don't expect state-of-the-art water slides because you're just not getting them.

Slides you should be most excited for are the two turbo drop twisters inside the volcano and the complex of 4 green and blue tube slides that sit next to the action river. THOSE are the 6 slides that'll steal the show in this park - guaranteed.

Pics from today I don't know if this will work

joe camel has shared 20 photos with you! | Flickr

Guess you have to go look for yourself, mostly construction and landscaping around the front entrance

Paint is looking faded and stained on CBBR

Agreed. Very basic for this caliber and scale of a project like this. I hate to admit. I just keep thinking if they only pushed a tinny bit more with design ....

First post. Unfortunately I'll be a month to early for Volcano Bay when I visit Orlando late April. But I keep an eye on the construction, praying for a soft opening ;)

Aren't they gonna add a bluish color to the lazy river? This concrete color isn't very attractive with water in it.

The lazy river, wave pool and other small splash down sections still have to get the plaster coat over the gunnite. Once construction slows down and it won't be so dusty and muddy with workers and vehicles traveling all over they will plaster them. No sense in doing it now to constantly keep cleaning the pools/river.

You would have felt the moisture in the air had you ridden a float tossing beads last night :(;) It was wet!
