A 7 hour wait for a water slide. Let that sink in.

I know a couple that were there today, arrived early, had a cabana chair reserved, did the coaster twice early and spent the rest of the day having a blast. It is like any park, if you come at noon on a holiday on opening weekend you are not going to have a good time. You could have spent 5 hours in hot Pandora waiting for FOP with the same plan.

You know we haven't seen much of the little pool, beside the wave pool intersected by the body plunge. It looks like a little bit goes under the Volcano? And are those Cabana's beside it, or what are those structures?

They are cabanas but I think they face the kids area. The art looked like they have waterfalls over the caves and it was posted that they have springs (underwater fountains) back that way that you can float on. Looks like a great corner to hang in

Sorry if this was asked before, but do we know what vol will be like? Will he be like the mystic fountain, an animatronic, or a screen?

Also seems like no lights on the waterfall yet...

Stargazer's cavern lighting testing maybe?

Now that the lazy river is open, has the waterfall at the cave entrance been turned on yet? The concept art shows a waterfall and the rock work looks like it was designed for a waterfall.

Hopefully these wait times aren't like this when I go in August. I remember this same thing with Diagon Alley and the ridiculous wait times. Is there just not enough slides to cater to the crowds causing these massive lines?

The reflection is of the basic ceiling light fixture in the cave that has been there since the park opened. You can see it in the float-through videos. It's orange/red for some reason.

And a quandary.. how do they plan to light the waterfalls to look like lava? Pointing light at them will generally just make the whole area look that color. I supposed each of the stepped pools could work from below like the top cauldron, but what about the actual water flowing between each section?

I was hoping for lights pointing up or down on the volcano itself, behind waterfalls. If they can embed LEDs in Cinderella Castle for a night show I assume they could embed some in a volcano.

Also...

I am not the only one! I've gotten stuck in that area far too often and that little audio loop will be the death of me I swear!

There seems to be some LEDs embedded into the volcano already. (Gotta look very closely at the bottom half of Krakatau.)

That is from "On Beyond Zebra"!

This is one of the best lands anywhere. We just spent a whole day in it (I am not kidding).

It has so many hidden treasures...

The Zax that will not pass, as you've surely noticed going that way up around Green Eggs and Ham. Their footprints litter the island leading up to the current predicament.

Sneech Beach, of course.

Hortons egg nest, right outside the "back" door in the Cat in the Hat shop.

Just got a pic of Ms Skold w Lorax and Grinch; right after someone asked the handler for directions. While the TM was explaining things and pointing one way, Grinch walked up and shook his head as if talking and pointed the other way! "Don't listen to the Grinch!"

I love this island....

K, :topic:

Thanks! I really haven't looked at an 'open' VB.

The park really looks like there are plenty of places to feel somewhat alone even in a crowded park. My plan for our first visit is to just try and take it all in. My first trip up is about trying to relax.

I feel so fortunate to be a fl res! The less I do on a visit, the more I have left to do on my next visit.

I'll be posting images and video soon of the area. It's a subsection of the wave pool, without the waves. The area under the volcano is still under construction, and is the actual entrance to Ko'Okiri Plunge (it shares the entrance with the other 2 for now). The Cabanas are next to it.

More of the water features were turned on today, but still have some to go - especially ones that are water falls.

While in the park, the complaints were audible. You can hear people extremely frustrated with the process. The chair I got was right by a lazy river entrance (prime location, if you ask me) and I would hear guests complain that there's "nothing to do" because they can't get on a slide and you have to wait in the lazy river for a tube because you can't get in without one.

My only real complaint was the lines for food were absurd. I actually had to leave the park to eat so I didn't get to try any of the menu items I was so excited for. This was around 2pm so it's already slightly outside peak lunch time.

I think lines for food tie into the whole "nothing to do" while waiting. Once they figure out the virtual queue, that should go down as well. Today, they had the lazy rivers flowing with no waits. They did a good job ops wise with that. Seems like the GS line was even smaller today too.
