Sigh, won’t be nearly as good a park without it. Ah well.

It definitely depends on the touring strategy. For most, I think you may be right.

For me, it’s inconsequential. I never needed it once.

I’d always rope drop with early entry, hit krakatau multiple times, hit all other rides starting with back right (honu and ika monoa), then slides that fall into water, drop slide (sometimes) and then fearless until the other stuff opened. Leave around 1 after lunch back to hotel and rest up until dry parks that evening.

Granted, I always walk fast and am in good shape and fly up the stairs, so all that walking and climbing is no big deal. So I realize I’m not the norm.

Moral of the story is- get there early with a plan, and it’s still enjoyable and not much changes. Get there later or you’re a late riser- this hurts a lot.

Not needing a plan was, for me, the best part of going to the park. It’s what made it a relaxing day in between long theme park days. Now it’s something I’d need to plan for, which is a bummer (for me, obviously).

I’m talking about the removal of Tapu, which is what Andy was talking about.

I was there on one of the last days TapuTapu was in use. Krakatau was at 170 minutes.

I will not be standing in that line ever. Unless I’m running straight there at park open there’s no way I’m doing waits that long there.

The appeal was being able to do other things while waiting for your spot to come up. Go get food, do the rivers, just wander around, or lay down and get some sun or a quick power nap.

If then waits are short, sure, not really a problem. For 3 hours? Personally I’m gonna skip that ride because standing there for that long is unappealing.

Krakatau was only that long because of TapuTapu though. What was happening is on days that weren't that busy every other slide would be ride now and a lot of people would only be tapped into the aquacoaster so its virtual line would basically contain everyone in the park. Since TapuTapu has been removed it has averaged a 21 minute wait. It'll be interesting to see what happens during the busy season.

If that is what ends up happening, great! It may turn out to be a good quality of life change in the long run, as checking the app now the ride is at a 45 minute wait which isn’t bad. We’ll have to wait until next year to see what peak season does to lines.

I wish they found a way to eliminate most of the stairs though. That would’ve been truly revolutionary.
