It's borderline ridiculous we haven't gotten a grand opening date yet.

I didn't think they were unhooking it, I assumed they just passed each other!

They do just pass each other. There is no actual moving parts to the switching and the trains do not turn around.

Each train is attached to one track and that is the route it follows, the wheels on the other side just ride on top of the rail. One train is attached to the red rail, the other is attached to the blue rail. So for example the train attached to the blue rail will always take the blue route, forwards and backwards. Both trains enter on opposing sides (one from the north, the other from the south), run side by side, and both trains must be completely contained by the crossover before exiting opposing sides. As you can see stopping and waiting would not fix the problem if both trains were not contained, it would be gridlock.

This month's TM newsletter has a nice little write-up on the "over 30 unique wardrobe ensembles" coming to Diagon Alley and how the wardrobe in Hogsmeade just won an industry award. It sounds like some TM's will have some choices in personalizing their uniforms, which is great to hear.

Jimmy Fallon just announced that the Tonight Show will be at the park June 16th to June 19th. He said we're gonna get a first look at Diogon Alley on the show.

Cool!! I wonder how/when/where the tapings will be done. Maybe in a sound stage? I'd love to attend a taping!

BTW, @AmusementBuzz reports that the walls have been moved further back:

"The fence has been moved back and up higher now so Kreacher is hard to see now"

"The entire wall has been moved back and up except for this section"

There's no telling on an opening date, but my best guess is they are going to try and keep as close to the original Hogsmeade opening date as possible.

FYI, more filming will be taking place at Diagon Alley. Both day and over night shooting for 10 days. SHOOT DATES: 6/3/14-6/13/14

yeah, Im pretty sure you'll see the train arrive backwards. the station is a huge part of the queue.

Al Roker doesn't see any switchbacks.

Looks like a themed area where they can organize people to prepare to board the train while everyone on the last trip is still getting off.

I have been avoiding all Universal news on Twitter and this thread to try to keep it all a surprise, but I came here to ask if anyone knows why they still haven't announced an opening date? Isn't the 18th locked in stone based off the Tonight Show information....?
