It'll be interesting to see what the capacity of the regular indoor queue is, and whether this is opening-week-6-hour-queue kind of overflow or regular-peak-summer-2-hour-queue kind of overflow. Really hoping this won't be needed frequently.

What exactly is the outdoor queue supposed to be? Does Gringotts have a hidden courtyard garden? I hope this space makes some sort of thematic sense.

I have to wonder if they will have guests start outside before ever really entering the bank setting. While I consider the greenhouse still overflow, it was designed that way. Guests start at a lower level and the greenhouse brings them up. I don't think FJ could have the line change to remove the greenhouse because I don't think the show building was designed with a different line that never leaves the show building.

For some reason I seem to recall the blueprints having a separate line to funnel people to the outside portion of the line. I think before we enter the main bank room we have all seen, I think there was a circular room (think transformers main circle room that splits singles, express, and normal) where people will walk to the left down a hallway to the outside and then it will wrap around and you will come back through the same hallway, back to the circular room and you will turn and finally enter the lobby. I highly doubt they will have designed the line to break in the middle of setting up the story only to have people wait outside for hours. FJ never breaks the story once you enter the main line (the cave hallway doesn't set up any type of story). Once you pass through the main doors at the top of the greenhouse, the story starts. I think it will be the same with this ride as well.

I have a problem with it being at the start/middle/end of the queue because it takes you out of the main realm of Diagon Alley. This is way different than Transformers in that Transformers is a stand-alone attraction. Escape from Gringotts is the keystone attraction of the single greatest accomplishment in theme park history. Sad but true, this attraction is going to rely on that queue to buffer crowd control in the main area of Diagon... just like they do with Forbidden Journey and Hogsmeade.

I'm hoping that queue is sort of like the one they put in the street next to Transformers, a "just in case" type of queue that's rarely needed. They do have to have a very large queue line just in case, because they likely can't let any queue back up into the main streets of Diagon for traffic and safety issues.

That is really what I am hoping for. What is the expected rider capacity for this ride? and how does that compare to FJ?

Approximately 2400 persons per hour, so it'll be on-par with that of Forbidden Journey. I wouldn't hold my breath though, as this isn't operated with a continuous loading system.

And I'm assuming that there will be a single rider line but no express right?

Right, an according to what we've seen, this extended queue is on par with the likes of Shrek and Twister. I'm surprised Warner Bros is letting them get away with this.

It's absolutely pitiful. There's no excuse for it besides being cheap. This has no place in a game changing theme park expansion. This isn't Phase 1,they have the money.

Will it kill the expansion? No. Is it any less shameful? Nope. I can't wait to see people try to defend it.

It's still under construction, no? Everyone is freaking out without knowing if this is how they are leaving it.

Who said that it will normally be used as the start of the queue? It is overflow, and by the time you get 5 feet inside the park you will know that you have come at the busiest time of the year and that you are in for a hellish day of ugly queues.

There are limits to how much a park is going to afford to theme a queue... especially a seldom used queue.

That's a good point. If this is true holidays and peak time overflow, fine. But if this is Potter, going to be used as normal for the foreseeable future, then it's a problem. Can't wait to find out.

Not the capacity for either attraction

Lets drop a few million into an exterior queue for rock or whatever your looking for here so that on the peak peak days people won't have to see a building. People who for the most part wont' notice or care about the building.

I think they should just called the queue the Drive-Thru part of the bank and set up some ATMs out there.

Wasn't everyone freaking out about the outdoor transformers extended queue? How often does that get used?

It was actually full yesterday. Every time I'm at the park, even on the days that aren't that busy, I see it get half way full.

I think very often we lose sight on here that the average theme park attendee won't give a crap what things like the extended queue, or the back of Horwarts, or the wearing on the walls of Victoria Embankment looks like. We care, because 1. we're way more interested in these theme parks than the average rank and file, and 2. we've been talking about the exact same area for three years now. After a while you run out of unique stuff to talk about, so you begin to nit pick.

Relax Francis, it'll be just fine.

Thanks for putting words in my mouth here. Walls, more trees, overhangs, and more can be added for less than 'a few million'.

I'm sorry, but for those of you saying that the queue will be seldom used, you're only saying that to support your failing argument. This queue is going to be used every single day this summer, every single day this winter, and every single day from March until the end of April of next year... rinse and repeat. They're going to be dependent on this queue, as said before, to control the crowd volume in Diagon Alley... it's called land control. For those of you interested, Universal currently practices this with Forbidden Journey, running the attraction at half capacity in the mornings to move their guests into that massive queue line as a way to disperse crowds throughout the Wizarding World. To those of you who say that those switchbacks will be seldom used are those who aren't thinking of Universal as a world wide destination.

Am I asking them to spend 50 million dollars in sculpture to hide a show building? Absolutely not. What I am curious about is where Universal Creative is allocating its resources - because on one end you have details (as cited by members on this board) that most people wont notice, but on the other end you have amateur mistakes like the extended queue that just go without concern. As I recall - back in 2010 Mark Woodbury simply shrugged his shoulders over these same issues.
