I’m gonna miss ITTBAB. I’m calling it now. It’s gonna be a bland and safe downgrade.

Honest question do you believe shows like this should have a 20 yr plus lifespan ?

I'd rather have an evergreen, well-written show than whatever we're likely to get from the current Imagineering teams.

Let's look at it like this:

A Bug's Life is a movie that has nothing to do about being a bug, or how bugs are important to the world. It's a very human story about human issues, using bugs as a stand in. Hopper in ITTBAB serves a drastically different role than he does in the film lol.

Zootopia is the same ordel. So if they could make a meaningful show about the ecosystem with A Bug's Life (an IP that also doesn't really belong in Animal Kingdom, same with the likes of freaking Encanto), I think the same thing can work with Zootopia. Sure, A Bug's Life fits the aesthetic of AK, but it is very much a political movie about human issues.

It's The Tree of Life afterall. The centerpiece attraction being about about of different animal types (Zootopia 2 will have fish and reptiles) makes a lot of sense.

Show will probably have a similar story structure to ITTBAB, showcasing different animal strengths and showcasing the importance of a healthy ecosystem. Idk how tf you do that since predators don't eat prey in the modern world of Zootopia, but I think they can work it out.

That last sentence is exactly why I'm wary of a Zootopia attraction of this sort. The sociopolitical realities of Zootopia do not easily map onto the equivalent human realities, and when you try to, things get very messy (and honestly, ugly) fast. I am anticipating any message will be aggressively ambiguous so as not to call attention to the inherent contradictions... but also rendering the entire show pretty meaningless.

It's Tough to Be a Bug exclusively used Flik and Hopper and was developed separately from the film, and it shows. That freedom was arguably one of its strengths. It used some limited iconography and design philosophy from A Bug's Life to build what is otherwise an original attraction that served an extremely important purpose within Animal Kingdom.

In other words, while I respect your trying to make your case the way you have, I think you've actually underlined why so many people are not looking forward to this change.

Exactly people don’t like to give Disney any leeway to create “original stories” anymore.

If they could find a way to adjust or create a story that fits AK I think that will be great.

A Bugs Life is a movie of its time and right now the current generations can’t appreciate that because it’s way past its prime.

My biggest issue is that it makes total sense for a bunch of bugs to be inside a tree.

It makes no sense for anthropomorphic animals, living in human-coded urban environments, to be inside a tree.

This where we disagree and I find fault in your argument.

The movie definitely touches upon some very with real human issues we face today. I understand that a lot of people hate change and want things to remain the same always.

But that’s not realistic or the reality of the times we are living in. Don’t get me wrong I’m not a huge fan of this project but willing to give Disney a chance to see what they come up with.

Here's a good write-up on the "for" and "against" arguments for Zootopia's core messaging, just because I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing.
www.vox.com

Zootopia wants to teach kids about prejudice. But is it sending the wrong message?

The film’s central metaphor doesn’t entirely work once you start to break it down. But does that matter?

Zootopia's message is a bit messy because the movie basically says only a couple of bad apples create systematic oppression, rather than it being societal ordeal. The movie sort of knows this, which is why they tried to make Judy morally sorrrrrtt of grey, but it's more like a band-aid fix to a larger thematic disconnect.

But again, I think with some creative liberties, they might be able to get this to work. And again, we don't know what Zootopia 2 is fully about. Maybe it'll be a clever tie-in.

I still don't know why they didn't just use Lion King, lmao.

This is just a representation of what happens as we age. Thing don't move like they used to. ;)

Really though it is a shame the dynamic movement degraded so badly.

For reference this video was filmed close to when ITTAB closed at DCA. Notice how Hopper was in much better shape there vs DAK. Although at DCA they did let the mural on the building peel for almost a year and downgraded from the bug eyes to the generic yellow Midway Mania glasses.

I always thought ITTBAB at the Tree of Life was odd, but always thought DAK should have received a Bugs Land somewhere with ITTBAB as its main attraction just like at DCA,
