Never underestimate the power of Sonic fans (and of Hot Topic).

In all seriousness; the Sonic films have continually been successful in the terms of box office. Assuming if they market it properly; especially *because* of Shadow's importance in the series--and STH3 could easily be the breakout of the 4.

Well yes, but it was never going to do well. The unique thing about this release window is people are out of school so it’s the few few weeks per year where the box office has room for like 2-4 movies to do well all at once.

And if it was gonna die in a ditch on its prior date, it’ll actually still probably die a bit more gracefully as the film will make more money, even if it’s not Venom type numbers.

Listen, you can see other studios making great super hero films out side the MCU....hell the animated Spiderman films are amazing. So they can do this but it takes time and really good writers to make these stories work. So glad its done and if they do start over do it better next time and if not...would not mind Marvel just having Spiderman so we can get more of him and his characters

I cannot believe it took Sony this long to figure this out.

Without knowing the intricacies of the contractual arrangement between Sony and Marvel that has "loaned" Spider-Man to the MCU, it's hard for me to see a clear picture of what Sony's strategy with these movies has been. Because, in a vacuum, deciding to make a bunch of Spider-Man villain movies without Spider-Man (and where the villains aren't really villains) was an absolutely ridiculous direction in which to go.

But perhaps Sony is not allowed to make other live action films featuring Spider-Man while they're sharing another version with the MCU. That's the only explanation that would make any sense to me.
