This seems to change every couple of days, and the last thing IoA needs is another big coaster. Just a hunch but I really doubt this is happening. It just seems so odd. Are we sure Universal isn't sending out red herrings like SS44 when it was Transformers before it wasn't Transformers before it ended up being Transformers again? I'll just wait to see what the next reported ride coming to JP is in a few days.

Sorry to go so far back but I had to pick up on this point. While I get what you're saying, the experience of JP in the IOA sense is so much more of immersion within the environment than of being true to the 'park' of Jurassic Park as a tourist attraction within itself. People identify it more with a lush tropical environment, cut off from everywhere else - this is why people complain so about the FJ show building, so while a coaster might technically be 'appropriate', from a guest experience PoV it would be bad.

And while we're here, for the record, DC being right next to Hogsmede does annoy me. But ho hum, oh for the days of it being in LC! But that's another story... And Hulk fits with the non-naturalistic stylings of the rest of the island. It is meant to be exaggerated and not a realistic rendition of a city.

I'm not disagreeing with you! But if IoA really needs to put in a big coaster (which, IMO, they shouldn't...they need more dark rides without height restrictions) then JP would be the place to put it. The queue video for JPRA describes JP as a theme park and explains that attractions will be added, and it's pretty clear that the River Adventure itself is aware of itself as a 'ride'.

While I think a big roller coaster is the last thing IoA needs (though an out and back coaster with good airtime would be nice to have somewhere in Florida), if they had to put it somewhere, I'd rather see it in JP than somewhere else. Personally, I liked the video another poster put up of the JP game--having dinosaurs attacking the track or messing with it in some way would be sweeeeet.

Great point, remember the House of Horrors rumor that I think the same website was suggesting for SS44. I liked DH's original rumor better.

I would almost say save the hyper-coaster for something more futuristic themed (Star Trek, Iron Man, etc..)

I was all for the Amber Mine coaster...and while some of you hate the hyper coaster idea, I'm all for that too! I think the big coasters should be at IOA, not Universal. HRRR doesn't fit...never has. As for IOA, it has had massive steel coasters since day one, so those of you hating on it need to get over that fact and realize that coasters are a huge draw.

Besides, if they add a big coaster now, what's to say they'll never add another family or dark ride? I would expect the Lorax to be built after the coaster, and most likely another family/dark ride after that.

Totally spitballing here..

Anyone notice that someone mentioned that exec's were looking AT the JP showbuilding?

JRPA < New Coaster

As much as I would hate to see the River ride go, they could do a lot with that building.

But just an idea.

:look:

The JP River Adventure is a VERY popular ride still, and it has a great capacity. I don't see this thing going anywhere anytime soon.

My two guesses would be that the coaster either goes inward toward the lagoon and covers quite a bit of land throughout JP...or here's really thinking out of the box: goes OUT of park boundaries but heads off towards Cabana Bay!

Nothing is dead yet due to the fact that nothing has been confirmed, these are all spitball ideas and run-off rumors of rumors.

Star Trek hyper coaster between MiB and Simpsons FTW! I'm not even a Trekkie, but it really works  And since they can't have Star Wars, why not capture the other big sci-fi fandom?

I'm sorry, but I want no parts of a hyper in USF or IoA. If I want a huge thrill, there's other parks I can go to. I'd much rather have a coaster like Mummy or Gringotts, or even Big Thunder or the new Amber Mine. The fact is you can tell a better story and do more with effects with smaller coasters.

I honestly think that is getting old. They need new variety, and especially an airtime machine. I wanna get off a coaster at IOA NOT feeling like my head and stomach were just launched out my throat.

How is it getting old? Gringotts is only the second incarnation of it. Then you have the big behemoths Hulk, DC, and HRRR. There's plenty of variety.

Maybe you should head down to Busch Gardens Tampa, probably the best coaster park in Florida. Islands of Adventure isn't, and I honestly don't think it should be. The park offers things for most ages, but mainly in the thrill department. If they want to follow what they're adversting, "a family vacation" and be able to compete with Disney, they do not need another big thrill. Adding a new, mega thrill coaster would certainly not be adding variety to a park that already has two B&M inverts and a B&M sit-down coaster.

But hey, it's all a matter of opinion. And I could see why you would (personally) want a big coaster, because they are fun. But realistically, I don't think it's what the park needs. Plus, it would probably look completely unattractive at Islands of Adventure (one of the most immersively themed parks in the world).

I do think Busch Gardens overall as a whole is the best rollercoaster park in Florida...but in my opinion i always have the most fun on Universals coasters. And i think The Hulk is the best coaster in Florida..

I think if IOA would announce another coaster right now, the response would be an overwhelming "OH." It's the last thing the park needs when it already has 3 big ones.

Even the addition of HRRR wreaked of quick fix and tide over until Potter hit, although I love the ride and appreciate the variety it brings to the Studios.

Some think, well most on here seem to think it's not what the park needs (Another ROller Coaster) but how does anybody that doesn't work there know exactly if a coaster will do too much damage? Personally I don't think it would, but as you said it's all a matter of opinion. I've never been to any theme parks ouutside of Florida so I'm trying to understand the too much roller coaster concept.

Honestly I'd rather see a Splinter type coaster. Something nontraditional, I like the compact style with short thrilling drops, instead of a typical coaster. It just screams family to me. Almost like a high quality wild mouse.
