How do you get to it? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Edit: Nevermind, I found it in the Explore menu.

It drives me crazy how they pronounce "Gringotts" in that video.

I've heard it pronounced both ways: GRING-GOTTS and GRING-guts.

In the films they tend to say GRING-GOTTS, but for what it's worth, Harry Potter Wiki (I don't know where they got their info) says that it may be derived from the word ingot, which would suggest maybe the other is correct.

It's a Spider-man-esque motion base on a roller coaster car.

Just to clarify, is the motion base part of the ride vehicle itself, or under specific pieces of track? I've read rumors of both.

Yeah that's the only way I've ever heard it pronounced, even by British people. So the video must be wrong! Unless that's how JK pronounced it and then it rubbed off on the Universal team. Maybe the rest of the world has been saying it wrong.

From what I understand, the motion base is on the vehicle itself, similar to other rides like Spiderman... Along with track elements like the teeter totter section. Combined it should make for a hell of an experience.
Especially excited for the cave sections and I'm extremely interested in finding how they'll pull of the dragon with no real fire element... After all, without fire a dragon's just a big lizard... Will it be similar to the first fire on the Spider-Man ride, with heaters in your face and a screen fire? I can't wait to find out.

According to Screamscape: While on the subject of Phase 2 of the PotterVerse (London), as I had suspected, the rumors of the Knight Bus attraction were wrong. This doesn’t mean that we wont see the King Kong 3D 360º technology put to use somewhere… it just wont be themed as the Knight Bus. The ride focus seems to be entirely on the Gringott’s Wizarding Back dark ride / coaster concept, as they apparently have some really grand ideas for this project. What kind of ideas? Remember that uncovered technology patent Universal files a couple of years ago that would have a coaster car ride up onto a detachable piece of track that was hooked up to the top of a simulator style motion base platform able to tilt and rotate in any direction? The latest Screamscape rumor claims that we may see this new idea brought to life as part of the Gringott’s coaster ride.

Here's the patent technology: http://www.coaster101.com/2011/09/19/universals-motion-base-track-patent/

Granted, this is from Screamscape and about 2 1/2 years old so take it for what you will.

Thanks for the link GGGhost, and everyone for the pronunciation info.

As an abstract I use to get pissed that certain actors mispronounced words that are part of the Star Trek cannon, then I thought about it and they pronounce real words differently too. In the real world people pronounce certain words vastly differently. Do you say data or data, potato or potato, tomato or tomato :pound:

With the names of fictional places or things, think about if it were a real place or thing would there be the same variation of pronunciation.

To clarify, what I posted earlier, has nothing to do with the ride attraction or the queue of the ride attraction. It has to do with something that has not yet been installed and has left many wondering why.

A few more details from Gringotts from this article:
http://www.slashfilm.com/harry-potter-and-the-escape-from-gringotts-secrets/#more-232795

The Unexpected Second Ride in This Attraction: The Gringotts Elevators

The Gringotts ride is not the only ride guests will take inside this attraction. Guests will board a set of elevators which will take them down “30,000 feet to the subterranean Gringotts vaults.” Gilmore says these elevators are a ride in themselves:

Thats a very cool trick that Universal has designed with the filmmakers — where you actually ride elevators. They are really cool elevators, and thats a really cool show in its own right. You arrive in a little station in the caverns where you board your car.

I hope this is in the right thread.

The dragon statue on top of Gringotts? Major issues with it?

Agreed. Either it's not going up in time or there's something wrong with it. Maybe it won't breathe fire because it's a hazard?

The photo of the two large openings with Bellatrix looks like it might be from the first scene? Here's the description from the TPI description:

"Scene 1. In this scene, you'll face a brick wall, with two tunnel entrances, to the left and right. You're really facing a 3D screen, though, and here's where it all starts to go terribly wrong. Bellatrix Lestrange and Voldemort appear, cursing you and declaring that you'll never emerge from the vaults alive. Actuators will make your car bump up and down before the track below the first of the twin cars will drop, coming to rest at a 40-degree angle. Then, the track under the trailing car will begin to rise, matching the 40-degree angle of the leading car. Within a moment, the car then drops 70-80 feet into the tunnel"

Just reading the description of this scene gave me goose bumps! This will definitely be one of the greatest attractions UC has ever drawn up. I wonder how many special effects and maneuvers there are that we will have no idea about until opening:drool:
