Your photo is so helpful and fun. One of the few I had to save for reference. :)

The only problem with your photo is that you just missed catching UC's satellite location...

OK, now he needs to go back and take more pictures.

So that was a county planning person that was talking. He doesn't sound against mass transportation along I Drive. I have always thought that the county would like this type of plan if connected to the convention center. It would bring in lots of conventions that then can pay Universal for private parties at night. Conventions love to do that stuff.

Still too small in my opinion. But again they can always build upwards talks to the polercoaster being approved essentially killed most if not all height limits so that's a plus

You do realize the main area of land is almost more than double The Studios and IOA... Combined. How is that too small?

For everyone who thinks the land is too small just look at Disneyland. The park is smaller than any of the Disney/Uni parks in Orlando and has more rides stuffed into it than any one of them. If Universal were smart that's how they would make their third park. No wasted space.

If Shanghai Disneyland and Universal Beijing can both be around 1000 acres, Orlando which is also the most visited tourist location in world can afford a larger size park. It would also help to have a huge park especially if this one is geared towards the toddler crew. I mean one of the biggest complaints are strollers meaning large walkways will be needed which take up space. Add in parades and etc which will add to non usable space for attractions.

Secondly, more space allows them to create fully formed lands rather than just the highlights. I.E a full blown castle for Hogwarts with the great hall, dungeons, forbidden forest, Quidditch pitch, and Hogsmeade rather than a small part of Hogsmeade, a in ride version of the forbidden forest and a small version of the castle.

In the long term, more space keeps the problem Universal currently faces from happening aka not having room to expand and then taking things out and losing capacity.

You are confusing resort size and park size... Shanghai Disneyland and Universal Beijing aren't/won't be 1000 acre parks. In Shanghai, about 1000 acres is what is set aside for the resort as a whole... To include 2 possible future parks, entertainment, hotels, ect. Shanghai Disneyland park itself is nowhere near 1000 acres, and is closer to probably around 100-150 acres.

There's no way SHDL and USS are 1000 acre parks. For context 1000 acres is roughly the same size as DAK, Epcot, MK, and DHS COMBINED.

Your sense of an acre is way off. Animal Kingdom, including the safari, is 500 acres, most of which are contained in said safari. Epcot is 300 acres, and a ton of that is taken up by World Showcase lagoon.

A park doesn't need to be much more than 200-300. Anything bigger than that is overkill.

I took a lot of photos, just didn't want to fill the thread with a whole bunch of photos. I didn't really focus on anything in particular I was just curious what could be seen of the site from that angle.

That news report on transportation is interesting to me.

I'm wondering if we'll get more info sooner on this project from the fact they'll have to appease the locals more than the other stuff they do.

And short of the few large theme parks like AK & Epcot, it seems like most of the significant theme parks are in the range of 90 to 120 acres. Then you have the really small ones like Universal Singapore and even DCA before the Carsland expansion.

Tokyo DisneySea is 170-180. I'd be all for a park that size.

I'd love for Universal to do a similar park to Seas in Orlando.

People have said that's what they're aiming for, but that obviously remains to be seen. Here's to hoping.

What I'm equally as interested to see is what they will do with a potential entertainment district. I'm sure (or at least hope) they won't go with just CityWalk 2.0.

I bet it would be something that puts Disney Springs to shame with how Universal is right now.

As much as I disapprove of Disney, Disney Springs is done nicely an for that area, it's kick-ass. Universal could similarly do the same thing and do well. Orange County wants one of those Districts on the South End of Universal Blvd anyway. Universal can give that entire south universal blvd. area a kick start.
