I can't find the article right now, but he did an interview towards the end of Under the Dome airing and said that he liked to revel in great adaptations and say that he had nothing to do with the bad ones.

Which is really weird because Most of the movies or tv shows based on his work tend to be so so... only a couple have been really great, most of them are just, okay.
so its kinda funny that all these so so movies are made but he will never allow any of his stories to be in haunted houses lol
I think there might be another reason, maybe he doesn't want people to be that close to his creations? maybe he hates haunts in general?

Well, he's typically not satisfied with most adaptations. The ironic thing is that the adaptations he likes or had a hand in aren't well received in general.

The IT reboot could change things, I'll admit that. But as much as believe anything can be a haunt, most of King's stories wouldn't actually be good haunts. Most are actually small stories with a slow build to a really powerful climax. There's not a lot of action that supports the jump-scare, Congo-line nature of most haunts. The best King house would be a best of, but even then it might be a struggle for the best, instantly recognizable scenes from the books.

Oh, and there's that. You want The Shining as a house? Expect it to be nothing like the Kubrik movie. In order to mimic that movie, Universal would need the studio rights AND King to bless off on adapting a movie he hates. Lifting any movie visual (including character likeness) requires the movie studio to approve it.

King is a WAY complicated get.

Well yeah, I agree and think King would be a crappy house. The play is in the mind not in the visuals

If I were him I would pretty much turn down anything outside of HHN. Only HHN really has the budget to truly do it justice.

I dunno. It doesn't take a budget to do it right. Ever see any of the Dollar Babies?

So just curious. No media preview night this year? I remember there being one for at least the last few years. Definitely the media invites. Excited either way. But was just curious.

The alcoholic beverage cups blink, hence blinky cups.

So now that we have all the houses announced and a map, does anyone know what the various house opening times will be?

To me, Krampus is the wild card as even though that house location opened at 6:30 last year, this year the entrance is right up front.

FDTD didn't open until 6:30 back in 2014, I imagine it'll be the same for Krampus

We were there the third weekend of 2014 and I recall going into FDTD right after the gates opened. Was that house one that they changed the opening time on?

If so, I wonder if Krampus could go the same way in that they start the event with one opening time, but adjust after seeing crowd flows?

Yeah this has really been a weird year as far as announcements and media. First they announce the icon very early, then a few announcements as normal. Then they start the 5 w's social media campaign to apparently slowly reveal AHS, only to come right out and announce it the very next day and drop the whole thing. No media preview at all and the website was only completely updated within about a week of the event. Add to that Mike Aiello saying he's going to take a back seat this year and not to expect to see him much. It all kind of adds up to make me think some things are happening behind the scenes. Hopefully all good things and I'm sure the event will be great.

Need some advice guys. The few times I've attended HHN in the past, I did Stay & Scream, so I had no need to go through the HHN entrance gates. This year I'm going to pop over on a few evenings after dark. I'm staying on site at Sapphire & Portofino. So, I need to know what are the most crowded entrance times, so I can avoid those times. Also, is there a separate line for on site hotel guests. Thanking you in advance for your comments. :)

I would say right at opening and around 8-9 seem to be the most crowded, from what I remember.

Yeah, in the past we have strolled in around 7pm without any issues, but to be honest I have not gone into the event any later than that.

There used to be a line for on site guests, but I do not know if there will be this year or how late said line stays open.

Looks like there's some info being released here. Multiple following tweets with even some video and conceptual walkthroughs.

I certainly don't mean to derail this thread, but I find it so crazy the insane amount of nitpicky criticism this event is getting over such small details. I mean, I guess that this is what a hardcore fanbase does, but I feel like people get SO riled up and dismissive.

Everyone gets so excited about the reveals and speculation, and now that it's all out I feel like so much of I'm reading is constant criticism and complete dismissal - not necessarily here, mind you, but in the wide world of HHN discussions across the board.

The billboard doesn't have Chance, this event will suck. Chance isn't in the awful quality youtube commercial. The merchandise is all "extreme close ups".

Again, not trying to suggest that OU is the problem, but it just seems like things are so positive and exciting, then immediately ultra-critical and super dismissive. I'm a huge fan of the event.. is it crazy to think I might want to wait until I actually attend it before I tear it to shreds? Sorry if this is an aimless ramble, I just find it a little hypocritical and frustrating.
