Trolls

Universal can't stop the feeling that this movie deserved a sequel so get ready for Trolls 2: April 2020.
‘Trolls 2’ A Go For April 2020 At Universal | Deadline
I don't know that it "deserved" another movie based purely on quality, but it certainly made enough money and has been one of the more successful DreamWorks releases of late.

They are probably counting on Timberlake crafting up another hit for the new movie, as "Can't Stop The Feeling!" has had incredible staying power and made tons of money.

The similarities between the Trolls movie and the twitter Nintendo art makes me wonder if parts of the movie were arranged so that they could be used as the basis for aspects of an area similar to a Nintendo area in Beijing or elsewhere, as a backup plan in case Nintendo somehow doesn't allow them to build Nintendo areas after Japan, a backup plan in case the area in Japan goes poorly, a bargaining chip for negotiating with Nintendo, or as a demonstration to Nintendo of the ability to make a movie that looks similar to one of the recent Yoshi games or one of the Kirby yarn games.

Some similarities:
The horse-like Troll could be like Yoshi
The troll named Biggy could be like Donkey Kong
The things that look like tufts of hair with feet could be like Toads or Goombas
The prince Bergen rides a tricycle that drifts through a castle-like building at the beginning of the movie which could be like a go-kart
Two Bergens eat pizza at a roller rink
The trolls live in a forest which could be like the Donkey Kong playground area
The trolls movie has felt-like materials, matted cloth, and braided materials that seem reminiscent of some Yoshi games and Kirby's Epic Yarn
Poppy floats through the air during the end credits of the movie kind of like how Mario can fly

I forgot what I found to be one of the most interesting similarities:
In the Trolls movie the Bergen prince refers to the scullery maid as being his 'plus one'. In the song for Mario Odyssey, Pauline refers to herself going to be Mario's '1 Up girl'. ()

Some more things about the movie:
Poppy floating through the air during the end credits of the movie looks similar to Mario going through the air at 1:12 in the Mario Odyssey trailer: ()

Another similarity is that there are various times in the movie where the movie takes something like a 2d perspective. This looks kind of like a 2d platformer game or ants in a traditional ant maze and you can even see the Trolls running through underground tunnels at one point during the movie while there is this 2d perspective.

In the Trolls movie, the Trolls wear wristband's that beep and glow periodically. People in a Trolls area could also wear wristbands that could be similar to Tapu Tapu at Volcano Bay.

Something that could be used to replicate the Donkey Kong ride, but with a different idea behind it could be for guests to be riding in a roller skate like Trolls do in the movie. In the movie, the Trolls do a dramatic jump out one window and into another while riding in a roller skate. They might have to change the area from where the ride takes place from being in a forest however. Another idea is for people to be riding on a leaf in a forest or elsewhere as Trolls are shown doing multiple times in the movie. Riding on a leaf could also be used as the idea for riding down a more simple slide.

Trolls in the movie are very briefly shown riding on top op a centipede-like animal in the movie when Poppy is passing out invitations to a party. If Universal had ideas for an attraction where the idea is that guests would be riding on Yoshis, the ride could maybe be replicated in a Trolls area with guests riding on this centipede-like animal or some other insect(s).

In the movie, the character Poppy likes to make scrapbooks and letters made from felt-like material. This could be an interesting thing for people to do while waiting to get on a ride. It would probably appeal more to girls and women.

A rollerskating rink could be somewhere people could spend time while waiting for their turn to ride an attraction at a Trolls area. In one of the maps of the Nintendo area that were posted on Twitter there was a place labelled to be a pizza parlor. Like I said before characters eat pizza at the skating rink in movie. Additionally, I think you can hear video game noises (possibly Pac-Man) at one point while characters are at this skating rink. This map from Twitter I mentioned also showed an area for an arcade on it. However, people on this forum have said that this particular map from Twitter might differ considerably form what ends up in any Nintendo area and that it was an early attempt at thinking up a design for a Nintendo area, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be inspirational for a Trolls area in a park. It could be also something interesting for City Walk, but one of the important ideas of the movie seems to go against the idea of eating things for pleasure so it might seem weird to put such a thing there.

I watched Trolls for the first time with my niece and it was actually really funny and enjoyable. Glad to see there'll be more of it and maybe in the parks soon too. The characters are ripe for parade/show/meet-and-greet/merch use.

Another interesting similarity that I noticed is that the prince of the Bergens in the movie goes shopping for a bib at one point in the movie. Similar to the Bergen prince with his bib, Bowser Jr. wears a handkerchief around his neck. Also, the Bergen prince has a pet crocodile or alligator that wears a necklace with spikes on it. This has some similarity to how Bowser has some similarities to lizards and turtles in appearance and wears a necklace with spikes on it.

Maybe, the area that was at one time was going to be the Zelda area could be substituted with a Bergen town area in a park somewhere like in China if Universal desired. The Donkey Kong area of a Nintendo area could be substituted with part of the forest the Trolls live in. In a substitution for a Nintendo area in a park such as in China, the transition from the area where the Trolls live to where the Bergen town is could be through a tunnel like in the movie.

Netflix And DreamWorks Animation TV Reveal Six New Original Series | Deadline

New Netflix-DreamWorks series:

Trolls: The Beat Goes On! (Jan. 19, 2018)
She-Ra (Premiere date TBA 2018)
The Boss Baby: Back in Business (Premiere date TBA 2018)
Harvey Street Kids (Premiere date TBA 2018)
The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants (Premiere date TBA 2018)
Trollhunters (Part 3) and 3 Below (Second installment of Tales of Arcadia Trilogy)

Trolls and Boss Baby getting shows makes sense as a tie in for their upcoming movie sequels.

It's interesting that Captain Underpants got a show as well. The first movie was profitable this past year with the new cheap outsourcing model that DreamWorks used to keep the cost under $40 million for that movie. That show may test the waters for a sequel.

Mainly Netflix Dreamwork shows do extremely well. Actually most I think may actually be better than their own films.
