When and why did they remove tubes from the Fearless river?

Pure speculation, but I’d guess overcrowding? One tube is much larger than one person in a life jacket.

I know it’s a long shot, but I hope they find a way to extend the river with the new expansion that will happen... someday?

My thoughts exactly. My family and I went for the first time last September. Riding tubes in the fearless river was a major highlight of the park. So much fun. I'll be really disappointed if it's still just life vests in September. Does anyone have any inside info on this?

So maybe in the less busy months tubes may return... hopefully

It was like that when I was there in February. So it might just be policy.

It’s about time. That was a huge element that they needed to add. Here’s hoping they add some more entertainment.

They had this on my first visit to the park on 5/28/17. Has it just been on-and-off since then or?

I think maybe a lot has to do with liability also. I've only been there 2 times but both times I saw little kids getting flipped off of the tubes when going past the wave generator.

One time I watched a kid coming around the bend right when it turned on and the kid came flying down river with his head down inside of the tube with feet in the air. I grabbed his legs when he was going past to help him get righted.

They don't have to worry about people getting stuck while flipped over if they don't have any rafts

Better as in more fun or more safe? I've only ever used tubes on it but I suppose it would be fun either way.

THIS! It is 100x more fun with just the vests. Shoot, I've visited the park in the morning sometimes just for an hour in the river with the vest. One of my favorite things ever.

I agree. The fast river rapids at BG Water Country uses the vests only. Way more fun than the tubes.

Tubes and vests don't work well together in the rapids rivers. Tubes keep running over vest people. And Universal wants everyone in a vest...sooo vests it is.

I thought the tubes were WAY more fun. It just became work with the vests.

We have not been since the change, but something I noticed was that they often had to pause and or slow down the river as someone was seen out of a tube often.

One time, the wife and I were sitting near the entrance while our daughter was spending time in the river. A storm started rolling in and I got to see how fast they can make that river as they were ‘pushing’ guest to the exit rather efficiently.

So, I am hoping vest only makes it more enjoyable, run at a consistent speed anyway....so I hope the fun out weighs the work!

Did anyone catch the premiere episode of Food Network Star in Volcano Bay? The park made for a beautiful backdrop for the challenge where the contestants had to take their signature dish and "parkify" it. The elimination took place in Jurassic Park.

They have been filming a lot of shows at VB. I think I've seen 2 or 3 now. Last one I saw was for Top Chef Jr.

Anyway, I don't really see the point in going in a river with a life vest on. Being on a tube and bouncing around is a big part of the fun.
