To be fair the critics gave TLJ a 91% score so maybe we shouldn't rely on what they say?

The fact that they don't like this makes me think it might actually be good.

Based on a few things I’ve read, it sounds like Disney gave into the Last Jedi haters and attempted to readjust course to appease them.

what they didn’t realize is they already hate this movie before they’ve seen it. So they wasted their time.

I said this when Last Jedi came out, but its likely it will be considered the “fan favorite” in the years to come because it was so different compared to the rest of the new trilogy.

Oh well, I’m still excited for Saturday.

And this is exactly why I never put any faith in those early Twitter reactions people give. They are rarely indicative of the final product.

Further proof that the number doesn’t mean anything. If it’s Phantom Menace bad I’ll be shocked.
Ya same. Like nostalgia wise I love phantom menace but that script is not great lol. I’m expecting to enjoy myself in the theatre tomorrow night, then moving onto The Mandalorian and future Star Wars afterwards

Rian Johnson Thinks Trying to Cater to Fanservice is a Mistake

”Even my experience as a fan, you know if I’m coming into something, even if it’s something that I think I want, if I see exactly what I think I want on the screen, it’s like ‘oh, okay,’ it might make me smile and make me feel neutral about the thing and I won’t really think about it afterwards, but that’s not really going to satisfy me.”

Reading multiple reviews I gather this message to the fans: Be careful what you wish for. Almost every review finds the fault in the film its catering to fans upset by The Last Jedi and basically going cookie-cutter safe. I guess I'll find out Thursday myself. (For the record, I enjoyed The Last Jedi although I could have skipped the casino part. But I felt despite what Mark Hamill said, Luke was spot on, since day one he's been pretty much a whiner and reckless with consequences - here he just finally admitted he was careless and it cost everything)

Maybe not since the OT, but from what I gather this film is definitely not perfect, but realistically guys, has ANY Star Wars film since the OT been anywhere near perfect? Rogue One, maybe. Obviously this is all a matter of opinion but there hasn't been a universally beloved Star Wars film since the 80s. Im still excited. Low expectations maybe, but excited. Ive never seen a Star Wars movie I actively disliked and couldn't enjoy, even if Solo was purely not good in my opinion I enjoyed myself. We shall see with this one. Going to the first showing in my area tomorrow, should be fun!

That is a bit lower of a score than I was expecting, but reviews were VERY split coming out of the screening, so i'm not surprised.

Just make up your own opinion on this one. Everyone was amazed at how TLJ had such a high rating and then those same people are still bitching about it to this day. Just because this has a low RT score doesn't mean you personally won't like it. Plenty of movies have high critic scores and low audience scores and vice-versa.

That said... if the movie is truly hot garbage, Idk how much to blame JJ (he had to write a script film and get through post in close to a year and a half). I think Kathleen Kennedy is to blame for most of this trilogy not flowing properly because of decisions she has made.
