It’s not called that in Orlando, so it’s still ride specific.

It is however called that in Osaka. While I am pointing a place that will not be accessible for every theme park fan, it is still fair to call out that they have named one of the River Adventures with that alias as opposed to the Orlando title.

I do think they should've had a USHvarient however, as it would've been nice to see a version of that shirt with perhaps the original Universal Hollywood logo (even though they have actually just rolled out candies themed to that retro logo).

It still shows you the distinction between Hollywood and Orlando as both rides have thier own names.

I disagree. This is a testament to Universal Hollywood and their inability to have consistent names across development and marketing (T2:3D, Kung Fu Panda, etc). In Hollywood, "The Ride" is on the park maps and all current advertisements. The Hollywood ride itself was branded as the River Adventure. In later years, they added the word "Ride" underneath the River Adventure logo because the same Jurassic Park gates also added an entry into the Dino Play playground area.

Orlando offers the Jurassic Park Island and the "River Adventure" is the main ride.

Osaka names the ride 'Jurassic Park: The Ride"

Ugh. Its tough being a Universal fan...

Thats a big negative. Both are "JP River Adventure"... Here's the ride sign..
7Hm7V5N.jpg

^As @Chris mentioned above, the "RIDE" was added later. But notice how it still says "River Adventure", just like Orlando. The ONLY thing on that shirt that makes it Hollywood specific is the "June 1996-Sept 2018" (they were too lazy to put the actual date).

Anyway, enjoy some Dino Porn from the other day...

To say I'm saddened by the upcoming remodel is a vast understatement. I have a long, long history with this ride, and it is my favorite ride in any theme park anywhere.

I'm grateful that it's just a remodel and not a full closure, so I'm not losing it entirely. But I have an intense dislike of the new franchise. I can only hope that at the least, the new dino animatronics are fluid and dynamic, as they should have been all these years.

The closure has me coming back to USH for the first time in 4 years. So much has changed in the past 4 years that I'm honestly going to be disoriented there for the first time.

I don't quite have the words to express what the memories I have about and around this ride - and this website as a result - mean to me. I can only hope the next incarnation freshens it up to keep it around for another 2 decades.

Hi guys. And thanks. I believe I'm going to be getting a pass again. I'll still likely be at Disneyland most often (my fiancée works there now) but I will be around USH again.

I'll definitely be posting photos and opinions and such from Jurassic Park after my next visit. I'm going next Sunday.

I haven't logged in here in quite a long time, but I needed to tell you how much you hit the nail on the head when it comes to how I feel about this ride. It holds so many memories for me and it's so sentimental to me. It's my absolute favorite ride in existence and I've rode it so many times I can't even begin to estimate. Some nights I'd just ride it over and over until the lower lot closed.

One night I remember we rode it so many times that we started getting creative and focusing on different things rather than the ride as a whole, to appreciate it more. For example, for one ride through we looked behind us the entire time to watch the dinosaurs run through their motions and reset for the next riders.

People keep arguing that I should be happy that it's being 'improved' but I'm just really not. It's sentimental to me and I love it because of the way it is now- the soundtrack, the narration, the timing, the dinosaurs and especially the parasaurolophus (the Hollywood parasaurolophus is extremely sentimental to me and I really don't have a reason why, other than I'm just really attached to this one specific animatronic).

I took my final ride tonight and it was very bittersweet. Half the dinosaurs were missing, including the parasaurolophus (which I already knew and expected. Wish I would have appreciated her more the last time I saw her!). The audio was out of sync. And the ride stopped at the top of the lift with the dropping raptor (which was cool because we got to see it run through its movements, slide back and go back into the ceiling). Not the way I expected to bid farewell, but oh well.

On a less sappy and depressing note, an acquaintance spotted the parasaurolophus in the bushes on the Studio Tour. I wonder if this is her final resting place.

We're gearing up for one last ride as Jurassic Park: The Ride gets ready to close next week, Sept 3, at Universal Studios Hollywood.

It may be empty of dino's by that time at the rate things are disappearing. It'll just be like Navii River by then. A river journey of Nothing and then an AA at the end.

Just because it'll be gone, it won't be forgotten.

After-all, that's why we have the Studio Vault to look back upon.

True, it won't be forgotten, but it will be gone, and many people who have never ridden on the attraction will never get a chance to physically ride the 1990s-style JP ride with a bit of the 1990s-video like the jeep falling and the dinosaurs from the 1993 film Jurassic Park. The new one will be based on Jurassic World and would have technology from the 2010s instead. I know that's gonna hold up, but there's a lot of nostalgia going on in the JP ride.

I went this weekend. It is not my final ride since I intend on going on Monday and hopefully be the last raft. To say that seeing this ride close (close because once it reopens it will be a different ride) makes me really sad is an understatement. I was a 4 year old when Jurassic Park took the world by surprise. I remember the exact part I went in the movie theater to watch that piece of art. I attribute that movie with my obsession with movies. I can say Jurassic Park is very special to me. It was a seminal experience of my childhood, so seeing this ride go from it's original version breaks my heart. Yesterday, I saw so many people give their farewells to the ride. I could say half the park was wearing Jurassic Park shirts. You could see a wave of so many different t-shirt styles and fan nods to Jurassic Park that I am still stunned that Universal decided to gut this classical attraction. Some people were really nostalgic and the lines to buy the ride pics were huge. Employees had to help divert traffic from the exit of the ride because lines were very long to buy pics. I hope Universal honors the huge legacy of Jurassic Park and doesn't turn this once-state-of-the-art attraction into another "screens galore" attraction. if not, it will have a very vocal detractor of the ride. Maybe we can achieve something, maybe not, but come Monday I will probably shed a tear with my last ride on that awesome attraction. So many memories.

I feel you. I absolutely feel you. Thank you for sharing this, I feel less alone in my mourning!

My family and I would do things like that too. Focusing on smaller details or watching in reverse or even focusing on one side over the other each ride thru.

I have the ride scene by scene in my head even now. I'm just grateful that this is happening in a digital age so we'll get high quality footage of it.
