I have no insider knowledge or insight into the reasoning, but I believe HTF said many months ago (maybe in a podcast) that the ride was all tire-driven.
Rupert Grint filmed new content for the rides, but Dan and Emma did not. Their part in Gringotts is CGI, or I believe more specifically, digital face replacement.
If you look closely at the right edge of the clip at the 7:30 mark in the "Making of Diagon Alley" special, you can see that Dan's...
Yeah that is a bit different, and I can understand being upset in that situation. I feel for you, lol. Hopefully you (and everyone) get a smooth experience with it soon.
I'm glad it seems they are getting closer to smooth operation at higher capacity.
I don't quite understand people who, after going to such a highly anticipated attraction during its opening week, will enter a queue with an enormous wait-time posted out front and then act shocked that they had...
I clicked play expecting to hate what I saw. I actually thought it was reeaallyyy funny.
I have no problem with people who get sincerely emotional over this stuff, but the absurdism of that video is hilarious. If you only watched the first 30 seconds, you probably missed the parts that make it...
"A DISASTER"? "Uni screwed this one up"?
I'm sorry, but I think these are ridiculous phrases to be using at this point. Today Diagon Alley had the biggest crowds it will EVER have, and most of them are focused on Gringotts because it's the only feature that hasn't yet been open to the general...
From what a lot of people have been saying, it sounds like they may have overcompensated a bit with Ollivanders' capacity. If there's no wait during this chaos, it's hard to imagine there will ever be much wait to speak of.
I wonder if they have any contingency plan that would allow them to...
I think we may be seeing a small-scale version of what was discussed with people putting off vacations. A lot of people may have decided not to come for July 4th weekend because "Diagon Alley isn't open yet." I don't think the vast majority of people know what a soft open is or that any of these...
In reference to the moving portraits, I have to assume there was some digital manipulation of the images themselves as well, to give them a more hand-painted look.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you'll see the lights in person.
The camera picks up wavelengths of light that are invisible to the naked eye. You can see this by using your phone's camera to see the little infrared light in your TV remote blink when you press a button.
I came across this list from Buzzfeed. I think they could add Screed and Sons to the list.
14 Beautiful Independent Bookshops In London
Looking through them, you can see how spot-on they got it.
Honestly, it doesn't bother me that much. It's a little strange and I don't know why they would have planned it that way, but I never think of it until someone on hear mentions it again.
Maybe it would help to remember that we only have half of the King's Cross facade, so you can pretend that...
Not exactly on the current topic, but I was just looking through my pictures of Hogsmeade from last December and the nice, understated holiday decorations they have. They are very fitting for a small rural village in the Scottish Highlands. But I would love to see something a bit more...
I really like this new Butterbeer glass! It's more in the style of the ones seen in the movies, and I like that it's distinct from the Hog's Head Brew mug I already have. Will likely be buying one of these.
From instagram.com/orlandomyway:
Here's the HE webcast from today. Warning: It shows pretty much the entire ride video from Hogsmeade to London.
Also, it looks as though they've moved tomorrow's webcast from 3pm to noon.

*SPOILER/"HOW-IT'S-DONE" WARNING*
From the several videos I've seen, it's definitely a Pepper's Ghost effect. It looks as though you are actually looking at a reflection of the barrier that aligns with the upper portion of the barrier above the mirror. Then you see the people THROUGH the...
Agreed. As was posted before, some people are finding it far from underwhelming. This is the kind of review I was hoping for!
