A week on from the last update and we have some more aerials courtesy of
http://old.towerstimes.co.uk/
A lot of ground work has been done and many more footers added I expect (or hope) we are not far off seeing supports and track going in. I followed constuction of Saw the ride at Thorpe (another Eurofighter) and the track for that flew up once ground work was complete, so fingers crossed the next update will be even more awesome. Any way back to the latest pics.
Great to see so many workers on the job and concrete being poured
More footers going in around the top end of the site, the existing building (toilets) is almost totally surrounded.
The site is looking much cleaner now. Amazing how far that concrete pourer can reach.
Gerstlaurs office in the background, they should be working hard soon.
Staffordshire knot and lots of heavy machinery.
Lots of footers and that back wall area should be where the lift hill will start.
Just in front of the crane is a refurbished submission, to the right of the crane you can see a dismantled enterprise ride getting ready for it's new parts (Enterprise is a spinning gravity ride). Oblivions repaint continues.
Staging area, prefab footers, track and stairs?
More track and supports
Wide angel of staging area.
Yet more track, is that a break run I can see?
Alton Towers is open this week for half term so I took my first trip of the season . I Had a real geek out moment when I managed to get up close and personal with this track piece :drool5:
The following set of photos were taken by a fan from TTF who managed to grab these shots of some mysterious track , is it just a brake run or maybe there is more to it. Any ideas?
So there you have it, work is moving along nicely now, and I am starting to get excited about this project again, especially being able to see and touch and feel the cold hard steel of track for myself today (sorry geeked out there). No other photos from the AT though as the area is well sealed off. I will be heading back next weekend though to see if any thing has changed, maybe get some more track shots too. Many thanks to Adz at Towerstimes for the photos.
