Brightline Station Coming to Orlando

What's the deadline for approval? I4's current masterplan is to build some sort of elevated expressway from Championsgate through Osceola parkway which would take the space dedicated to this.

All of the current concept plans for I-4 include a reserved rail envelope between US 27 and the Beachline. The interim work that's underway also takes this into account

Apparently Disney is now saying they are open to a station at Disney Springs again.

With SunRail getting an airport station, this would be great for vacationers if it happens and would probably single-handedly finally make the SunRail profitable.

If I had a penny for every time I was on a cruise and a yellow company filed for a bankruptcy the day before I got off…

In all serious ride brightline from Orlando to Miami to go on a cruise after HHN, I got first class for like $90 which was a steal and very good experience. So for that very specific scenario it works very well. (It’s not cheap enough to make it worth it to fly into Orlando instead of FLL/MIA then take the train though which I’ve looked into) . It also does seem like their ridership numbers have been rising after good word of mouth, they just built too much too fast.

Problem is that “last mile” connection that’s missing in Orlando or Miami.

To get to the Brightline station at Downtown Miami it’s a pain, let alone parking.

Orlando’s station is far away from the heart of Downtown and the tourism district. You still have to spend $30+ to get to your final destination.

It’ll be a success once they get that SunRail connection and stations closer to the parks.

They're also in the planning stages for a station near Port Canaveral/Cocoa. I think that should have been in the initial build (when they extended to Orlando) for people flying into MCO to get on a cruise. Could be an easy win for ridership increase.

Yeah I’d that Orlando to MCO gets built that will be huge. Although staying at universal it may make sense for me to uber to the port instead of uber to the train then take train and uber again.

If you’re staying within the downtown area sure, but you still need an Uber to/from Miami Beach, cruise terminal or the suburbs.

It’ll take you through the suburbs on their way to a downtown oriented station, but it has poor connections. Miami has horrendous traffic because it’s just so sprawled out and with very little population density.

If Brightline was easier to get to in Miami with either free and plentiful parking and Orlando had an efficient network connecting Brightline to the parks and resorts, a lot more South Florida locals would take it over driving. (And let’s face it, we could use less Miami drivers on the road)

I also lived in Miami and used Metrorail to go from Coral Gables to downtown for work. It also took me to Dadeland mall. And don't forget Tri-Rail is literally in the same station as Brightline. A connection to Universal and Convention center is planned (along with a tie-in to SunRail) but as that needs all new track, the Miami option was first,
