And with LED, which creates its own light, they can better mix screen media with practical elements without having to worry about it being lit dark enough for the screens to look right. Think Bourne Stuntacular with set pieces and actors in front for a screen in a way you can’t do on Gringotts in the same scene.

This is one of those things I never realized but it makes total sense when you think through it.

I’m hoping that cuts down a lot of the motion sickness that FJ elicits. It’s almost un-rideable for me at this point.

Fingers crossed. FJ is a rough ride for many people.

Stupid question: will Monsters Unchained go upside-down? I'm not really a fan of inversions and Forbidden Journey is one of my favorite rides ever so I would like to ride. I'm biting my tongue for Stardust Racers as the angle looks very very similar to the non-inverting loop on Rip Ride Rockit

I seriously doubt it will. I’m literally getting flashbacks to 2010 when Potter was about to open! I recall seeing this same question on the forums back in the day!

Although Monsters Unchained comes across as a “high risk ride” for its scary nature, I seriously, seriously doubt it will go upside down. Besides, we absolutely would’ve heard by now if it did.

Also, if FJ made a lot of people sick, and that is the tamer version of this ride system, why would anyone think it’s a great idea to jazz it up to 50 and make it unridable for more half of the park? So yeah, I can almost guarantee this won’t go upside down. It will just be a slightly snappier FJ.

I do wonder if the lack of carousels makes for a significantly shorter ride than FJ. The carousels have their issues, but they do pad out the ride experience time quite a bit and I couldn't imagine we'll see all of that time made up for with practical effects and setpieces. Seems a bit ... pardon the phrase ... impractical, in my mind.

Isn't it generally the dome screens that make people sick, not the movement on its own.

I reckon we'll see movements that will get pretty close to feeling like you're upside down. Like the moment on forbidden journey on your back at the whomping willow but maybe not full inversion. I feel like it's it a pretty safe bet that this will plus everything about FJ.

Also i'm sure someone more familiar with the different mounting point of the ride vehicle compared to FJ, may be able speculate on the possibilities when it comes to movement?

No, because the cars still move at the same exact speed even through the carousels. They don't park

After going on the Peter Pan ride at Tokyo DisneySea, I can say with total confidence that for me it's absolutely the screens. Taking my 3D glasses off made a big difference. Plus on that ride, the practical effects are more framing than the main visual (screens).

To your point, the "lay flat" back moment at the Whomping Willow doesn't bother me as much as the dragon chase.

The first couple of years I rode FJ, I got queasy. Made it through the ride without major issues , but no way I would ride it twice in the same day. They must have made modifications of some nature. I have no problems with it now, and ride it back to back often.

That brain gut disconnect of seeing the simulated motion of flying forward on the screens while actually physically moving sideways in a big circle for 30 seconds at a time, several times on the ride, causes a lot of motion sickness, even in folks who can handle roller coasters, on Forbidden Journey.

Being able to see what direction you’re actually moving in will go a long way.

Having said that, if the ride thrashes us about for the fun of it, we’ll have the classic regular ol style motion sickness to deal with still of course.

Thank you! Looking at the vehicles the restraints don't look strong enough to have an inversion with it just being metal bars at the top and the padding just around the lower torso unlike other OSTRs and even Forbidden Journey. As someone who doesn't mind the "on my back" parts of Forbidden Journey now that my first rides are long in the past I should be ok.

That small audio clip of just hearing Dracula say 'BE YOUR NIGHTMARE!' has me so excited, the voice sounds great.

I’ve been listening since yesterday that’s new right!? It sounds like they took that directly from the ride and yes it sounds terrifying :cold_sweat:

I wonder if there is something of a legal concern there. I know that Dollywood has a lock on the cinnamon bread market such as Disney has the constant flipflop between "Dole Whip" and "Frozen Pineapple Treat"... but as far as I know there aren't any legal trademarks or copyrights to Dollywood's cinnamon bread, right?

Holes are probably just a marketing gimmick. There's been cinnamon bread forever.

This is a bummer. The entire point of the cinnamon bread (imo) is the texture of the loaf.

I hope they meant "clove" and not "glove"-- I'm thinking "rubber glove or baseball mitt?"-- very different flavors, neither sounds appetizing.
