Can I get some of that hopium?

I'm going to get on the coaster next week to see it again because in all fairness I only rode it once. And not that I'm really excited to get on it again I need to get a second look at that final scene.

My current recollection is that the figure fits into an old fashion tourist trap you'd find just off the road, something old-timey like those old fortune teller machines. It doesn't feel like it fits into everything else DU represents at the moment.

Honestly though after Monsters Unchained it stands out worse than any sight line issue. The werewolf I can excuse due to how quick you pass it and it's likely even to be missed by some riders but for a scene that leads into the station where guests are going to have time to watch it as they slowly pass by it seems like a misstep.

I have no idea what the actual scene is but I've always believed in a design principle of "If you can't do it right, do it wrong on purpose." In this case, if "doing it right" is animatronic characters -- and the budget isn't there to do it right, then instead of doing that badly (such as a static figure, which is certain to disappoint due to its obvious comparison to what it should be), do a story-telling tapestry or mosaic or fresco or paint the static figures like a statue or carving from the old world representing an allegorical/folklore tale...

In other words, pick an approach in which the execution can look intentional and be done top notch. Audiences can be more forgiving if you execute something less ambitious exceedingly well rather than fail (and lay your budget-limit cards out on the table) while attempting something more ambitious.

maybe they can just add a waving arm to the mannequin so it just waves lol.
doesn't have to be animatronic.
it could be moved by air from a fan lol. or a pulley system,

Are you a former Disney Imagineer or something ???

Because a lot of your posts come off like you have lots of expertise and knowledge in the field of theme park design.

As someone that watches a “show” once and never again , I say the coaster is a much better use of the space. Now if the ride sucks , then well I won’t wait in line for it either way.

Minus the final figure I actually liked the ride a lot more than I was expecting. Very punchy launches and fun with the spinning.

Yeah, these Mack Spinners are a lot of fun. The fact that this is lightly themed is an improvement over most of their other installations, even if I wish there was more to it.

I was in theme parks in the '90s including a couple Imagineering projects on contract. Then was creative director of a game studio working mostly with IPs (lots of Disney, Universal, and Warner Bros.) for 20 years.

Random question: Are there any motion-simulator elements or scenes in Monsters: Unchained? Looks like my mom might join me on my trip to Epic, and she is historically terrible with motion simulators.

You mean like Forbidden Journey's dome screens or the fall simulations on Transformers/Spider-Man? Unless I'm misunderstanding, no. What you experience on the ride is 100% real all around you.

There are screen portions but they're used to enhance a scene rather than be the focus of it. You're not sitting in front of one at any point to simulate movement.

Two kinda weird questions about Monsters Unchained.

1. What's the temperature like on ride? I'm guessing it's purposely cold.

2. Are there any scenes involving height? Like being high above a setpiece.

There are no simulator sections. I get sick on Forbidden Journey because of the Dome sections. This attraction does not have those.

1. It's the coldest ride in the park.
2. Because the ride vehicles are part of the show they do not hide them like they try to on Forbidden Journey. With that, you can see that you are 20 or 30 ft up off the ground for the entire ride. But the scenes are all at car height or above you.

Thank you for the interest but getting into the specific projects on the forum could be kind of rough as people like things, don't like things. I'm new here but if I ever meet any of you at the park someday I'm more than happy to sit down at CelesTiki or Burning Blade and tell some stories 1:1.

That's one element I miss from forbidden journey, the rise and fall effects. I remember getting some "airtime" on FJ but not so much on MU.

They purposely avoided that "floaty" feeling on MU. That and the screens is what causes the motion sickness problem.

I said earlier in this thread that the ride profile would be more aggressive than FJ. I believe I said "prepare to be flung". There is a bit of that, but you barely notice because you are being bombarded with visual and auditory overload. Pace-wise, this makes Transformers look like a Carousel.

And then there is Igor. Who is obviously Vector's down on his luck twin brother, who became Victoria's MINION after his 5 year meth binge.

Yeah, if anyone thought this might be like FJ, it's not. Unlike Transformers and Spider-Man which feel very similar Universal did a fantastic job setting these two rides apart with completely unique experiences despite similar ride systems.

What Dracula does in that one scene and how your vehicle reacts is such a cool effect and a crazy fun moment.

They clearly learned a lot since FJ!

The prices for the Monster Makeup are crazy. Are they really expecting this to be that popular?
