Exciting times are in store. Hopefully they are yearly and not decade long additions

No final budgets. And nothing for Epcot. Think "hey if we build this at DL we can copy it at DHS" sort of talks. Things are not that far along for DHS or Epcot. Which is sick.

While I know Epcot investment is still a ways out, I think i'll choose to believe people who have been proven right time and again (74, Martin, Lee, etc) when it comes to DHS over... well, over you.

And lets be honest, we all know nothing is coming until 2020 or 2021 or so. Do they really want to announce this all 5-6 years early just so everyone can complain that it's taking them forever like everyone does with Avatar? I mean, criticize all you want, but at least be consistent.

Not sure where I'd post this, but Spirit is saying the budget for new additions resort wide have been approved by the BOD. DHS is getting the majority and Epcot will have a portion. AK won't be getting anything under this budget, they'll be set for a bit after Avatar (hopefully not 11 years). MK is the unknown, it's getting at least one addition but how big and how many are the questions.

I'll say this:

I've been told this is not the case, and that bad info is being given to the people Disney knows can get the fans whipped up into a frenzy. I hope I'm wrong and DHS gets a lot of money pumped into it, but I'm not holding my breath that decision has been made one way or another, especially at the lengths people are hyping over at Magic.

It makes no sense for a company to hype fake things for no reason. Overhype stuff? Yes. But giving bad info with the intent of disappointing people? That's not the case.

I will say that I agree about not holding your breath, but for different reasons. There ARE expansions planned for Epcot, DHS, and MK. They have budgets, concept arts and timertables. The problem lies in whether or not they actually come to fruition. What I've seen from them is cool (and some of it is original and not IP-based to boot!). But none of those things are confirmations. So no, they're not yanking people's chains. But yes, it's not worth getting excited over for now.

You miss my intent. I'm not saying they're hyping fake plans. There are, of course, things coming to DHS. My point was the exasperated reactions of "jaw dropping" confirmed budgets and the like are coming from overblown reports.

In this case, yes. AK wasn't suffering from a lack of things to do. DHS is.

By the time they get done with whatever they are dreaming about, most likely it will be obsolete. Just like Avatar is now. I think the land will look great "Disney is good when it comes to visuals", but I doubt "Soarin' over Pandora" and "It's a small Padora" attractions will be ground breaking in any way shape or form.

I don't think that will be an issue with DHS. It'll lean heavily on Star Wars and Pixar (probably Toy Story), which are timeless properties.

Star Tours 2.0 is a walk on (which I love since I am a huge fan of SW), So I hope you meant Star Wars Land, and if so, they should've started construction yesterday since it could easily take 2 years to build (to UOR standards). I am not sure if Disney realizes yet that the new saga is coming out at the end of this year. I'm just disappointed with the greed, I won't be surprised if they are just approving budget now to open a store and a Meet and Greet on each park and pocket the rest.

Yes I'm talking about a larger land, and no I think it will be much better than your exaggerated expectations.

I feel like you guys are forgetting that not too long ago Disney rolled out the most ambitious and (one of?) the most expensive additions in the history of theme parks not too long ago. Love it or hate it, NextGen and MM+ are game changers and the whole industry has taken notice. It's kinda ignorant to be getting on them about taking forever, being greedy, never adding anything, etc...they revamped the entire infrastructure of their resort in a huge way. You have to realize that it's bigger than anything Universal has done, even in their latest building craze.

Whah? "game changers"? What game are they changing relative to theme parks?

On the other hand, most Disney people are sheep, cattle even, and love the familiar order of things, especially when it comes to WDW. Creeps me out.

But game changers on both counts? Not sold.

Not theme parks specifically (altho I am 100% certain that Universal has looked into developing a similar system, albeit an abnreviated one). But hotels are hopping on the RFID train as well in the interest of improving the guest experience.
I dont remember the exact wording, but one of my exam questions read something like "Which company started the trend discussed in class about increased RFID usage and enhanced mobile experiences in the hospitality indsutry?" It was Disney. Keep in mind, the school was recently ranked 7th best public university in the nation.

Yeah.. rfid... Disney is pushing it though. I would love to see 60 Minutes do an investigative piece on both Nexgen and MM+. To see a map of the MK and the rfid readers dotting the park generally would be cause for concern. Even the sheep and cattle would have second thoughts I think.

Why? Are people really creeped out by it? Does it really matter if Disney knows where I'm at on property?
