My younger brother's first ride.

Awful. Just awful.

EDIT: Maybe it's a little hyperbolic for what's ultimately a small bit of kinetic flavor to Buena Vista Street, but I do think this attraction was an important part of DCA 2.0's identity that is now going away.

Hoping there's some kind of miscommunication and they're just moving it to the right of Hyperion, but it's not looking good.

And here I thought DCA was safe from the unecessary closures hammer.

My theory on the matter of the RCT being possibly shuttered for good aside from needing the barn for the show building for Infinity Defense and Stark's Flight Lab, Avengers Campus will be getting a 5th attraction taking over the Hyperion and they want all the space they can get for it.

At this point I believe it's only a matter of time before DCA gets a full on name change.

I dislike this so much

I don't go on this every trip but it add to the park. I wish they could find a way to keep it.

Second time Disneyland has taken a Trolly ride from us

There’s probably a way to move the maintenance facility to a spot that would still work and keep the attraction operational. Do I think they’ll do that tho? Unfortunately, no. A lot of times, when adding a new attraction to a park, something will shutter to offset operations costs. They probably see this as a way to save on the costs of staffing the attraction, and maintenance facilities, instead of invest new capital just to keep it running.

If true, man is that a big loss for the park.

Really well said.

Came here to make a bad joke --

"Disney, please, just start construction on the Avengers Campus E-ticket so we know it's not dead!"

I kinda agree

Big Hero 6 Redone land aside many changes haven't really improved the parks too much.

I hope after we get Coco and Avengers we keep going in the right direction.

You’re not wrong.

Popularity wise, I think it’s more popular now than it was in those years tho, and that’s their bottom line. That peak, right after the Grand Reopening, felt like the park had a strong (not strict) theme, a true identity and we were just waiting for the rest of it to be finished/fleshed out. Honestly, it felt like the park finally had a heart and soul.

In more recent years, there seem to be a lot of different ideas about what the park should, or could, be since then, and that’s led to a lot of strange (and sometimes contradictory) decisions and design choices.

I am happy to see the park get love and attention, but sometimes I wish I could see the multiverse version where they actually finished the Pier, renovated Hollywoodland and the like.

I feel like DCA has gotten more popular because I do actually believe the changes have been net improvements. Mission Breakout is a blast, food offerings across the park got much better, Pixar Pier is tastefully done, and Avengers Campus is (barely) better than bug’s land.

But I also understand the frustration as it feels like wasted potential. Web Slingers sucks, Incredicoaster was a downgrade, and now the Trolley is a personal :( loss for me.

Additionally, I get the frustration behind the erosion of the park theme, but I think most guests don’t care and DCA 2.0 kinda signaled the gradual end of that.

I enjoyed the food at Tiana’s (I got shrimp and grits) but WOW that seating area is a nightmare. Just so many people taking up tables without food.

It’s a mix of things. Bringing more events to the park and having more attractions that will draw larger crowds. The biggest draw of 2.0 was, really, Cars Land.

We all love what DCA 2.0 did for the park, but it was more about laying a foundation to build a successful park on top of that in the coming years. They just went in a different direction than initially intended.

Really hoping Disney tries to find a workaround to extend the Red Car Trolley's life just a bit further. Really scummy move on Disney's part.

Even if there’s a strong contingency who voices their concern about trying to save this (see “Save Toad” @ WDW) I still wouldn’t hold your breath on that hope. It’s a surprising, honestly shocking, bit of news, but it is not unexpected nor unprecedented.

Trolleys also don’t have the “untouchable” benefit of being “Walt’s Vision” like the Horse Drawn Carriage and Main Street Vehicles. The real bummer is that the trolley was originally envisioned to put you in his footsteps when he first came to Los Angeles. And I thought that was a neat way to connect DCA to its sister across the esplanade.
