Easy we will refer to them on how the next decade will pan out in Orlando.

Universal: The new cutting edge barrier breaking Eticket level attractions.

Disney: themed story telling basic Dticket attractions

SeaWorld: crap

See you don't need a,b,c,d, or e just refer to who is building them now a days and that's all you need

Universal: Screens, screens, and more screens. Every new attraction they have added in recent years are screened based. In small doses they are fine, but not if they are used exclusively.

I wouldn't call FJ screen based. Transformers, yes. The issue isn't screens, projections, or whatever vs physical and practical effects, it's that they're integrated and more spectacular than what you can see at a movie theater or at home. See: projection effects and screens in Mystic Manor.

Screens are good in moderation. They can accomplish a lot of things that we otherwise couldn't with traditional sets, but real sets with props and quality animatronics are what takes work and puts an attraction over the top. The overuse of screens feels very cheap to me, like I'm being put on a simulator while the park and staff insist it's a full-on rollercoaster.

If anyone could list all of the Disney rides built or reimagined in the last 10 years that don't utilize screens or projections in the USA I would appreciate it.

I think he means not at all, and so far nearly all of those do, including Everest and RSR.

Pooh uses projections during the transition to the dream sequence.

TOT in California uses screens during the "wave goodbye to the real world" segment in front of the mirror.

Stitch is just crap.

Buzz doesn't use screens.

Everest uses screens right to project the Yeti right before the big drop.

Never been on American Idol. Not much of a ride.

Little Mermaid uses a few projections when you go under water, as well is in the queue for the Orlando version.

RSR uses screens in the split track where your tires get changed/car gets repainted.

Luigi's is just a flat ride.

So I guess it's just Stitch, Buzz, and Luigi's...

Thank You! My point being media is the future whether you like it or not and Disney is just as guilty for using media. Only problem is Universal gets more flack because a handful of there rides are now considered the best there is. Something the pixie pals are having major issues dealing with.

Everest uses a screen (or a projection at least) when you stop in the tunnel and are waiting for the second track switch, although it was down last time I was there. The Little Mermaid definitely uses screens too. I also thought Stitch used a screen effect at one point, although admittedly I haven't bothered to sit through that show in years and I only did it once then (lame!).

Oh yeah Stitch uses screens in the main show also :)

- - - Updated - - -

I suppose as well that Buzz uses projections for his "face" in the Queue?

Yes, and also the projections for RSR characters that aren't AAs.

To write off an attraction for having screens or projections is nuts. There are stronger, more thematic reasons why things like Jack Sparrow and the end of SSE have problems. It's like saying a bad movie is bad due to the inaccurate costuming and staging, while failing to notice the writings, cinematography, and acting.

I hope you know me not thinking the whole list through was a result of me being lazy after gathering it all, not disagreeing with your point

Totally agree, projections/screens when used creatively only add to the experience.

You can't even compare the way Disney has used there screens at mystic manor to anything universal has done yet. 90% of the ride is non screen. Universal does use them way to much.

And it's not about using screens, I'm all for it. However, they need to create more rides like E.T, Pooh, etc. Now with transformers, Simpsons, Terminator, D.M, and shrek, it's too much. I know the park is based on the movies but movies use sets as well. If Gringotts Bank uses many screens and no great AA's, I would be upset.

I can't believe everyone forgot about the scene in Buzz before you fight the bad guy when you go down the tunnel with spaceships flying around you? That is a huge scene and all screens.

I don't think we should count an attraction as being as "screen based" bc there's screens used for a very short period of time. The point was does the attraction heavily rely on screens or not (something that depends on screens to operate). If a screen/projection appears in a small part of an attraction, it's not "screen based" imo.

The first rides that come to my head when I think of screen based are FJ/TF/Spidey. Soarin, M:S, Sum of All Thrills come to mind as well. Obviously any 3D attractions will be so those aren't even worth listing. The only other things that truly rely on screens are Turtle Talk and Laugh Floor to operate. Am I missing anything?

Lol, I think they did.. I remember when this screen was a cool runway and you got the feeling of taking off in an airplane with the wind blowing in your face (at least I'm pretty sure I remember it that way, it's been a few years) I think screens have their place (TF, Spidey, FJ to name a few) where they work REALLY well, but I also would love to see another HM type classic dark ride (which I know even HM uses screens to some extent, but the majority of the ride is still classic AA's)

While it is true that the majority of HM does not rely on screens, but the coolest parts tend to be the ones that do have screens :)
