I was just there last weekend. It looks like they are beginning to detail the exterior now, there were what looked like the beginning of gold boulders scattered around.

Yeah, my AP is expiring this week. I'm thinking of letting it go for now as well. Is there an opening date for this yet?

We're planning on downgrading our AP's to Epcot after 4 so that we don't have to pay the down payment again. As for when it will open I'm no insider, but I couldn't imagine it being until at least June at the rate they've been going.

Have they yet planted any LARGE trees around this mine train mountain? Otherwise I worry that it will look like it fell out of the sky, not to mention be a horrid hot mess baking in the sun.

Can we expect any newly renovated trash cans, benches or restrooms in 2014?

I know the rate at which construction is moving on this project makes molasses and snails look like a jet fighter racing a bugatti veyron but does anyone have a photo update out there? Its been since August/September since we saw pictures of it on here. If its opening when people on here say it has to be getting close by now, right?

Thanks for the link! I have been curious as to the progress of this project for quite some time and I know it's slower than slow

Thanks, Miketheboss, for the link! It is very much appreciated. There has been a TON of work done since the last photo update I saw. Back then the whole front of the hill was still a maze of steel and there was no buildings (like the dwarf's cottage) even begun yet. It looks like they may have finally hit their stride in this project's construction at long last. I still don't know about early February though. It still seems like they have a bunch of themeing to do and with barely more than a month to do it in it just doesn't seem feasible unless they hit a ballistic (Universal type) pace after the holidays. Thanks again...

Are those plastic plants on top SWSD hill too? It appears they are theming it like mermaid only different kinds of fake plants. This is nearly unprecedented.

I do not think those are plastic plants, more like plastic matting for further installation of either real plants, or far more likely more detailed fake plants. I was there last week and progress seemed to be happening constantly now. I did see some of the live testing of the mine cars, but was not able to obtain any decent pictures to post.

In looking at those, I think that you're right about the matting. It looks like what preceded the artificial grass/plants on Little Mermaid. I'm guessing the green look helps the artificial plants look more green (kind of like using primer tinted with the actual wall color when painting). Should really look nice, especially with all the trees. I have wondered how long the artificial grass/plants will retain their color in the hot Florida sunshine.

My point was, they are prepping for more plastic plants, there will be no real plants on this dwarf mine either. Even BTM has real desert plants for landscaping.
